Alex wakes from a Kumite dream and checks on his 10-year-old son Jason in his bedroom. He learns Jason was suspended for fighting in school after defending himself from three bullies. Alex responds with understanding and suggests they bond with a camping trip.

Alex suggests they go camping to bond. Jason agrees to the plan, signaling a rare moment of normalcy amid his father’s dangerous past.

To explain his motivation, Alex recounts his former life as a criminal and a prisoner. He recalls his tutelage under Master Sun and rising to become the Kumite champion. The flashback establishes the foundation of his present-day choices.

Alex describes traveling to India and gambling in a casino. Masked men arrive, steal money and a bag of diamonds, and Alex fights back, beating several of the robbers.

Following the robbery, the casino owner persuades Alex to retrieve the package for him, which is tied to mob boss Duvalier. Duvalier invites Alex to a dinner party as thanks.

At Duvalier's dinner party, the mob boss unveils his top fighter, the Beast, and presses Alex to join his Kumite. Alex refuses, arguing he doesn't fight for profit.

To provoke him, Duvalier has Sun, Alex's mentor, killed, removing the spiritual father who guided him. The act intensifies Alex’s resolve to fight back.

Grief and anger drive Alex to seek guidance from Leung, who directs him to Makato 'the Judge' to learn a disciplined path and new techniques.

Makato the Judge teaches Alex to fully channel energy in mind and body, a discipline meant to help him rout the Beast in the Kumite.

Duvalier lines the Kumite arena entrances with his men to block Alex’s entry, showing how far he will go to protect his investment.

Alex finds a way to slip into the Kumite by posing as part of another fighter's entourage, circumventing Duvalier's guards and entering the competition.

Alex and the Beast reach the finals. The Beast initially overwhelms him, but Alex recalls his training and knocks out the Beast. He spares Duvalier’s life, honoring Sun’s memory.

Back in the present, Alex and Jason finish their camping trip and drive away together, a quiet moment of father-son normalcy after their revelations.
