Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet

In 1978, Mary Mattock experiences her first period and, driven by menstrual psychosis, murders her parents with a hatchet. She is deemed mentally unfit for trial and is committed to Kings Park Psychiatric Center. This brutal act sets the course for the legends that follow.

In 1989, while at Kings Park, Mary is raped and impregnated by a hospital guard. The incident is covered up, with officials telling her the child was a stillbirth. This abuse fuels her later rampage.

After being told her child was a stillbirth, Mary goes on a violent rampage through the hospital. Police confront her and she is shot after she throws the severed head of her rapist at them, ending her killing spree.

Mary Hatchet becomes local folklore, with people retelling her story. A Blood Night-style celebration in her name keeps the legend alive in the community.

In 2008, a group of teenagers perform a séance at Mary's grave in a cemetery on Sweet Hollow Road in Huntington. The cemetery caretaker, Gus, shares the tale and warns that Mary will keep coming back until she finds her child.

The teens proceed to a house party where strange, supernatural occurrences escalate into violence. Straggling guests are killed by an unseen killer, while the party remains gripped by fear and confusion.

After escaping danger, the surviving teens meet Gus, who convinces them to accompany him to the abandoned Kings Park Psychiatric Center to uncover the truth.

At Kings Park, they dig up the baby's grave, only to find the casket empty. The mystery deepens as they search for what happened to Mary’s child.

Papers recovered at the site reveal that Mary's child is Alissa, a missing party guest visiting from Chicago. A series of flashbacks shows Alissa killing people, either under Mary's influence or due to a shared disorder.

Alissa appears and kills Gus, beginning her hunt for the others through the asylum.

Alissa stalks the remaining teens through the abandoned hospital, picking them off one by one in a tense, relentless chase.

Alex and Alissa engage in a brutal struggle through the hospital. Alex ultimately strangles Alissa to death.

As Lanie and a wounded Alex search for an exit, Mary's enraged ghost decapitates Alex and then lunges at Lanie.

With Mary's spirit still roaming the ruins of Kings Park, the horror lingers as the survivors face an unsettled, supernatural threat.
