The boss Ms. Simon informs the crew that Ghost Sightings will be cancelled if they cannot boost their ratings. Joel and the team realize the pressure to deliver sensational footage. They weigh risky assignments against the safety of their crew to save the show.

Mr. Gaffney visits the team and explains there is property back home haunted by evil spirits. He asks them to get rid of the ghosts, insisting it will save the show. Joel cautions that their job is to investigate, not to exorcise or purge.

The crew travels toward the site and stops at a roadside restaurant to prepare. They discuss what they hope to capture and whether the assignment will deliver the ratings boost they need. The destination is revealed to be an abandoned prison.

Clive, a former worker, gives them a tour of the prison and urges them to leave. He recounts the legend of a prisoner who escaped, killed another inmate by snapping his neck, and then the violent context of the haunt. His warnings set a tense tone for the investigation.

Clive explains the doctor who paralyzed inmate patients and performed illegal experiments in a failed attempt to fix their psyches. The legend says the doctor was imprisoned and eventually killed by inmates. The crew absorbs the grim backstory as the night falls.

During the first hours of the investigation, Roger is attacked by a ghost in the cell block. The entity possesses him and leaves gruesome gashes on the side of his head. Berger and Joel rush Roger back to the control room, where they realize they are locked in and must reconsider their plan.

The crew bandages Roger but discovers they lack enough medical supplies to stabilize him. They decide to head to the infirmary for help, but Berger is attacked by ghosts and dragged away. The situation grows more dire as the haunted prison tightens its grip.

While searching for Berger in the cell block, Kate is attacked again but escapes by activating a device Roger purchased that disrupts ghost energy. The device disrupts the haunt long enough for her to advance. The crew regroups and presses on to locate Berger.

The ghosts possess Roger, cornering Joel and Kate on the prison's third floor. He communicates that he will not let them be hurt on his watch and urges them to survive. Overwhelmed by the conflict within, Roger ultimately ends his life by hanging himself.

Mourning Roger, the team finds Berger near the entryway who believes he has found a second way out. They follow him to an exterior area still within the prison fences, where Kate detects a signal and calls the police for help.

The trio is let out of the prison in the morning and confronts Clive about locking them inside. He denies involvement, insisting it was not him. They call in Mr. Gaffney to assess the energy shift, and his reaction adds new tension to the mystery.

It is revealed that Mr. Gaffney was the very doctor who tortured the inmates. He becomes enraged when Joel and Kate explain they did not rid the ghosts. They trick him, locking him inside the prison, where the ghosts drag him away as the trio escapes back to Los Angeles.
