In 1905, Thomas Richardson sets off on a treacherous journey to a remote Welsh island to find his sister Jennifer, who has been abducted by a mysterious cult. His motivation is driven by desperation and a promise to rescue her from peril.

Upon arrival, Thomas poses as a recent convert to gain the trust of the cult led by Malcolm Howe. He quickly realizes the cult's unsettling practices involve sinister blood sacrifices that supposedly render the barren island fertile.

Thomas encounters Jeremy, Frank's son, and Ffion, Quinn's daughter, during a secret meeting. In a tense moment, Jeremy reveals that Jennifer's kidnapping was a ransom scheme to maintain the cult's sacrifices for their ongoing fertility.

Chaos erupts when an assassin attempts to kill Malcolm. Thomas intervenes heroically but suffers a wound, illustrating the danger and the volatile power dynamics within the cult.

Later that night, Malcolm showcases Jennifer in a public display, threatening her life unless the cult member who assisted her reveals himself. This public display escalates the tension and desperation around Thomas's mission.

Malcolm confronts the Goddess, bound in tree roots within a barn. In a shocking moment of sacrilege, he feeds her his blood, inadvertently causing the vegetation around her to thrive, indicating a gruesome bond between sustenance and sacrifice.

In a vulnerable moment, Thomas confides in Andrea about his past as a missionary in Peking during the Boxer Rebellion, where he was rejected for his faith. This shared history deepens the connection between him and Andrea amidst the chaos surrounding them.

Ffion reveals her pregnancy to Jeremy, but their joy is short-lived when Quinn brutally kills her during a forced abortion. Heartbroken, Jeremy retaliates by stabbing Quinn in a fit of rage, setting off a chain of tragic events.

After rescuing Jennifer, Thomas is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself trapped on a gruesome meat-grinding table, highlighting the cult's horrific methods of sacrifice.

Thomas defeats The Grinder and learns of Quinn's malicious plan to exploit both Jennifer and Andrea for new sacrifices. In a heartbreaking moment of compassion, he grants freedom to the Goddess by sacrificing her, completing her tragic story.

Amidst the chaos of the cult's destruction, Thomas, Andrea, and Jennifer confront and defeat Quinn. As Thomas lays dying, his blood nourishes the island, marking his transformation into its new guardian, symbolizing an ironic cycle of sacrifice and rebirth.
