The story begins with Doug (Colin Hanks), a man driven by an unquenchable thirst for surveillance and control. His obsession shifts to Amy (Ana Claudia Talancón), leading him to secretly install hidden cameras in her apartment to collect personal insights about her daily life. Armed with this private knowledge, he carefully crafts a false persona to engage her, initiating casual chats at a nearby coffee shop and gradually embedding himself into her circle of friends.

As their friendship evolves, Doug’s manipulative tactics grow more sophisticated. He exploits the information he gathers, scheming to undermine Amy’s blossoming romance with a coworker by stealing her computer and tampering with her vehicle. His ultimate ambition is to isolate her, ensuring that she becomes increasingly reliant on him.

However, suspicion begins to arise when Amy’s friend notices Doug’s inconsistent stories about his origins. His claims of being from Seattle—a city he has no connection to—only heighten her intrigue.
