A Better Tomorrow

Sung Tse-Ho oversees a large-scale operation dedicated to printing and distributing counterfeit American banknotes. As a high-ranking member of the triad, Ho handles significant transactions and maintains a close partnership with his best friend and bodyguard, Mark Lee.

Ho's younger brother, Kit, graduates high school and begins training to become a police officer. Unbeknownst to Kit, Ho conceals his illicit lifestyle while supporting his brother's aspirations, leading to a deepening familial conflict.

As their father’s health worsens, he urges Ho to abandon his criminal life. Torn between family loyalty and his obligations to the triad, Ho promises to leave the gang after one last deal in Taiwan.

During a deal in Taiwan, Ho and a mentee, Shing, are ambushed by rival Taiwanese triads. In the ensuing shootout, Ho sacrifices his freedom, surrendering to the authorities to allow Shing to escape.

Ho is sentenced to three years in prison for his involvement in the triad’s operations. While behind bars, he grapples with the consequences of his past choices and the impact on his family.

While Ho is incarcerated, a plot unfolds to kidnap their father as leverage against Ho. In a tragic turn of events, their father is fatally injured during the rescue attempt led by Kit and his girlfriend, Jackie.

In the wake of their father's death, Kit struggles with his anger, directing his blame towards Ho for the family's misfortunes. This unresolved tension complicates their brotherly relationship and Kit's career as a police officer.

Upon his release from prison, Ho encounters a corrupt police officer who offers him a pathway back into the triad. However, Ho is determined to change his life and starts working as a taxi driver.

During his taxi shifts, Ho meets Mark, who is now struggling with the fallout from Shing's betrayal. Their reunion is bittersweet as Mark encourages Ho to confront Shing, highlighting the emotional toll on both men.

Driven by the desire to separate from Ho and prove himself, Kit immerses himself in a mission to bring down Shing, despite Ho's warnings about the risks involved. This path foreshadows conflict between the brothers.

Learning of Ho's return, Shing attempts to manipulate him back into the triad by proposing a lucrative drug trafficking operation. Ho's firm refusal only heightens the tensions and leads to violent retaliations.
