In 1974, during the final days of the Vietnam War, Mark Lee arrives in Saigon with a mission to bring his uncle and cousin back to Hong Kong, a plan that hinges on the fate of Michael Cheung Chi-Mun. At the airport, corrupt security guards strip him and try to rob him, but he is saved by Chow Ying-Kit, a figure who seems to wield real influence in the shadows of the city.

Mark and Michael soon cross paths with Kit again in a crowded nightclub, where her gun-running activities become clear. Kit takes an immediate interest in the cousins and invites them to accompany her on a risky deal with a local Vietnamese warlord. The exchange goes sour, yet the trio manages to escape, and Kit is visibly impressed by how they handle themselves, deciding to take them under her wing and out of immediate danger.

Over the subsequent months, Chow Ying-Kit trains the cousins in her line of work and in the art of marksmanship. A complicated triangle forms: Mark Lee and Michael Cheung Chi-Mun both develop feelings for Kit, while Kit herself is drawn to Mark. Yet Mark keeps his distance to spare Michael, who senses that Kit might hold deeper feelings for him than for his cousin.

Kit secures a safer passage back to Hong Kong for Mark, Michael, and Michael’s father, allowing the three to start anew with a fresh business venture in their homeland. But the person who once loved Kit and now sits at the center of her past returns: the leader of the arms-smuggling outfit, Sam Ho Cheung-ching, Kit’s former lover, comes back after a long absence and is consumed by jealousy of the cousins’ connection to Kit. He schemes to eliminate them, sending a bomb that destroys the business and kills Michael’s father. Ho and his men capture Mark and Michael, delivering brutal beatings and a stark warning to stay away from Kit.

Kit mourns the death of Michael’s father and, in a moment of vulnerability, confesses her feelings for Mark, who reciprocates in a way that complicates the loyalties of the trio. Ho returns to Vietnam with Kit, intending to seal the deal with the warlord once again, leaving Mark and Michael to pursue them.

The chase back to Saigon escalates: Mark and Michael follow Ho, and Mark steps off the plane in his iconic look—black duster, sunglasses, and a matchstick in his mouth—ready for a reckoning. Kit later meets Michael in an abandoned temple to hand over two plane tickets so they can escape Saigon together, leaving Mark to head out with a sense of resolve.

Their plan is interrupted when Việt Cộng troops swarm the temple. Pat, a loyal soldier friend of Mark and Michael, accidentally stumbles into the fray, triggering a fierce firefight that forces Michael to fight for survival. He is shot but manages to escape with Kit and Pat onto a jeep; during the chaotic ride, Michael is knocked from the vehicle and surrounded by the Viet Cong, forcing Kit and Pat to use a mortar in a desperate bid to rescue him.

Back at the hotel, a desolate Mark confronts Kit in a tense, painful moment, accusing her of betrayal and of keeping secrets. The confrontation turns physical as he lashes out, telling her he wants nothing more to do with her. He later joins Pat as they rush to an ambulance where Michael is being treated, a glimpse of the fragile line between loyalty and vengeance.

Meanwhile, Kit, burdened by guilt and driven by a desire to set things right, plans to detonate a bomb during a crucial meeting with Ho and the warlord. The confrontation erupts into a brutal shoot-out when the warlord attempts to double-cross Ho. Mark arrives with dual M-16 rifles to take Ho down, and a violent exchange follows, during which Kit is wounded by Ho’s henchman. Ho, furious that Kit’s actions endangered him, shoots one of his own men before he is felled by a shot from the warlord fired through a window.

In the end, Mark catches Ho and turns his weapon toward the warlord, killing him as Ho dies in Mark’s arms. Pat and Michael rejoin Mark to help get Kit to safety, and the four are chased by the warlord’s forces in an M48 Patton tank. Mark destroys the tank with mortars, ending the threat and allowing them to press on toward safety.

They reach the U.S. Embassy in Saigon amid the final evacuation, presenting Kit’s travel documents to guards and boarding the last helicopter out as the city falls and the North Vietnamese flag rises outside. Kit dies from her injuries, leaving Mark and Michael to carry the weight of the moment as the helicopter ascends into the sunset, a somber reminder of the cost of loyalty, love, and survival in a city engulfed by chaos.
