The film’s climax reveals that the masked “Host” is Barry Miller, the disgraced former presenter of the game‑show Wheel of Games. Anita, the birthday girl, had once worked on his set and later fabricated a sexual‑assault claim that ruined Barry’s career. When the lawsuit was settled, Barry’s life collapsed, and he now uses his twisted version of a game show to exact revenge on anyone he believes contributed to his downfall – even if they were merely bystanders.

After the friends are chained in the scarlet room, Barry forces them into a series of cruel “games”. Melissa loses when she can’t identify three cities on a viewfinder; a hidden needle pierces her eye and a massive hydraulic press crushes her skull. James manages to break free briefly, only to be knocked unconscious with a taser and bound to an operating table. Both he and Matthew have keys sewn into their stomachs; when Anita, desperate to escape, chooses James’s key she discovers it won’t open the door. James is killed, and the only remaining key lies with Matthew.

In a final, harrowing showdown, Matthew confesses that he loves Anita. Instead of using the knife to kill her, he slits his own throat, giving her the “winner’s” position and hoping she will survive. Barry releases a sleeping gas, and Anita awakens to an unlocked door and a backstage area filled with tapes of his previous victims.

Barry then drags her back and forces her to pull a string from a pair of gift boxes, promising there is no catch. She hesitates, but he insists, threatening her mother’s life. When she pulls the string a cake—identical to the one he once received for his own birthday—drops on the floor, and Barry sings a twisted “Happy Birthday.” Anita slashes Barry’s face with the same razor‑thin card he used on Melissa and tries to flee, only to be tasered and pulled back.

The Host orders her to clean the cake off her face. As she wipes it away, the frosting dissolves into a corrosive substance; her skin begins to melt, her eyes bleed, and she burns to death on the spot. The final shot shows another tape playing, this time of Barry torturing the once‑canceled talk‑show predator Colin Piper, underscoring that Barry has turned his own brand of “justice” into a never‑ending series of lethal games.
