What Happens in Wave Makers: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Wave Makers (1000) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

Wen-fang Weng serves as the assistant director of the Justice Party’s public relations campaign for presidential candidate Yueh-chen Lin, a determined bid to unseat the incumbent president. Weng is the daughter of an influential legislator within the same party, and her own political path hits a snag after a tense incident: she defends herself against a homophobic supporter who verbally attacks her when he sees her kissing her wife, and he refuses to apologize. Meanwhile, Chia-ching Chen, whose relentless work pace on the campaign has strained his marriage, oversees the team of campaign staff working to secure Yueh-chen’s victory.

As the campaign unfolds, the sitting president, Ling-hsien Sun, announces Chang-tse Chao as her running mate, but rumors swiftly surface about his private trysts with a current staffer. One of his earlier affairs involved his former student and assistant, Ya-ching Chang, who now works for the Justice Party on Yueh-chen’s campaign. Chang tries to keep her past relationship with Chao hidden, while also attempting to convince him to return the nude photos she took of him when they were together. Chang becomes embroiled in a workplace sexual harassment case at the Justice Party, and with the support of Wen-fang Weng and Chia-ching Chen tries to navigate the unfolding case as male supervisors want to keep the incident under wraps.
