Violent Panic: The Big Crash

Two masked robbers, Mitsuo Seki and Takashi Yamanaka, rob banks in Nagoya, Otsu, and Kyoto using stolen cars. They travel to Kobe to plan a larger heist on the Dai-ichi Kangin Bank on Nitta Street, hoping to steal 300 million yen. After that, they intend to escape to Brazil.

As they flee from the Kobe robbery, Mitsuo is knocked over by a motorcycle and then run over by a truck, dying instantly. Takashi must continue the job alone and avoid capture. Police begin linking the surviving robber with the missing partner.

Takashi evades the Hyōgo police in his escape car, then ditches the vehicle and takes a taxi back to his place. He stays on the move, trying not to attract attention as officers close in. The incident marks a switch from joint crime to a lone fugitive phase.

The dead robber is identified as Mitsuo Seki, a 26-year-old former mechanic. Police search Mitsuo's apartment and uncover links to the other robberies along with fingerprints belonging to the surviving partner. A coordinated, multi-city manhunt for the unknown accomplice begins.

Mitsuo's corrupt brother locates Takashi and demands the Kobe robbery money. A heated chase ensues as he tries to recover the cash and punish the fugitive. The family fracture adds a new layer of danger to Takashi's path.

Michi, whom Takashi saved earlier, becomes his lover but drags him into a cycle of expensive clothes and shoplifting. She begins prostituting herself to sustain the lifestyle, causing friction with Takashi. He eventually decides to keep moving, despite the complications with Michi.

A car repair shop worker runs a racket that delivers repaired cars only to scratch them again, attracting neighborly attention. Police interview Michi and Takashi after the disturbance, and Takashi hides his face with soap to avoid recognition. After police leave, Michi discovers Takashi's passport and steals it.

Takashi calls Michi at a bar, and Mitsuo's brother overhears, realizing Takashi is heading to Brazil. The revelation heightens the tension as investigators close in. Takashi retrieves the passport later when heading to the airport.

Nitta travels to Takashi's birthplace in Fukui while Hatano goes to Kuriyama's home, taunted by curious neighbors. Police chase leads through multiple prefectures as they close in on the fugitives. The search expands beyond the initial crime scenes toward Takashi's origins.

In Echizen, Fukui, investigators find the dilapidated Yamanata family home, abandoned after poverty. Police track Takashi there and he gives his poor family 100,000 yen before escaping. The case underscores the personal costs of their criminal life.

Takashi robs Sumitomo Bank, but the alarm goes unheard due to a nearby street demonstration. Hanato and Mitsuo's brother notice the escape and join the chase, causing a dangerous pursuit through city streets. A sequence of crashes and evasions continues as officers try to close in.

During the pursuit, vehicles crash and a violent chase climaxes with Takashi and Michi escaping by boat after abandoning the money. A bystander and a TV crew are caught in the chaos as Mitsuo's brother escalates violence. The film closes with the note that a Japanese couple robbed a Rio bank and fled with 500,000 dollars.
