Under Suspicion

Henry Hearst is summoned to a police station shortly before delivering a major speech in Puerto Rico. He is questioned about the brutal rape and murder of a young girl discovered just a day earlier, initiating a tense sequence of events.

During the interrogation, Henry provides multiple accounts of his whereabouts, ranging from jogging with a neighbor's dog to stumbling upon the girl's body. His shifting narratives raise suspicions among the detectives leading the investigation.

Victor Benezet, under pressure from his superior Miguel Ángel Suárez, decides to let Henry go despite the lack of concrete evidence against him. This decision creates tension within the police department, heightening the stakes for everyone involved.

While Henry is being questioned, whispers circulate among the guests at the exclusive gathering he was supposed to attend. His wife, Chantal, struggles to keep her composure as rumors about their relationship surface, particularly focusing on their sleeping arrangements.

After Henry delivers his speech, Chantal is subjected to probing questions about her husband's conduct. The attendees are particularly interested in the dynamics of their marriage, given the couple's unusual decision to sleep in separate rooms.

The pressure mounts as both Henry and Chantal's narratives begin to fall apart. Henry initially blames Chantal for her jealousy, but his illicit behavior with very young prostitutes and accusations against Chantal's fidelity start to surface.

Chantal discloses shocking information, including witnessing Henry attempting to seduce her niece Camille and washing blood-stained clothes. Her claims create additional layers of suspicion around their already strained relationship.

Faced with mounting evidence and pressure, Chantal, the rightful owner of their mansion, consents to the police conducting a deeper investigation. This decision further complicates the couple's tumultuous situation.

During the police search of their home, detectives uncover disturbing photographs of the murdered girls. These revelations heighten the emotional tension and lead Henry to panic, suggesting that Chantal has orchestrated a scheme against him.

As the investigation unfolds, Henry grapples with the fear of losing half of his assets, including their mansion, if he divorces Chantal. His hesitance to confront the truth is fueled by a fear of what his collapse could mean for his identity and status.

Henry finally begins to recount the truth during a tense moment of the investigation. Just as Detective Benezet feels a sense of progress, he is interrupted by breaking news about the capture of the real murderer.

The true murderer is apprehended in a car while trying to target another young girl. The detectives find incriminating video evidence that clears Henry’s name, drastically changing the course of the investigation.

Following the capture of the actual killer, both Detective Benezet and Detective Owens release Henry from suspicion. However, the release does little to mend the rift between Henry and Chantal.

Despite his exoneration, a lingering strain exists in Henry and Chantal's relationship, stemming from suspicion and the attempt to frame him. The twisted nature of the story leaves both characters with unsettling implications that linger long after the events.

The film culminates in an ambiguous ending, inviting viewers to interpret the events as they unfold. The fluctuating truth between perceptions and actual events leaves a haunting impression that resonates beyond the credits.
