Trafficked

In California, Sara is about to begin waitress training on cruise ships but is sold to sex traffickers by Diane. She is pulled from her foster status and forced into a trafficking operation. This marks the start of Sara's trafficking ordeal.

Amba is partying with friends when a man she rejected harasses her again and throws acid on her and her friend. The acid attack leaves Amba scarred and disfigured, and she is forced into sex slavery. The violence sets her on a path toward captivity.

Sara and Amba end up together in a Texas brothel where they are raped repeatedly. They are joined by Mali, a Nigerian woman who is also enslaved, and the trio shares the struggle to survive the brutal environment.

Simon, the brothel owner, discovers Amba is pregnant and forces her to take abortion pills. She bleeds heavily, and Mali pleads with him to call a doctor, highlighting the life-threatening risk she faces.

Mali tells the women to do whatever they can to survive and not to fight back, a grim rule of engagement in the brothel. Amba remains hopeless, while Sara resists more, enduring beatings and drugging as part of her efforts to stay alive.

Sara discreetly pleads with the brothel doctor to give sleeping pills for her friend Amba, and the doctor relents. The pills become a tool in their plan to escape, reflecting the thin line between mercy and danger in their situation.

The plan to escape hinges on a night when Simon is away and only guard Max remains. Sara, Amba, and Mali seize the opportunity to break toward freedom, risking everything for a chance at escape.

Sara poisons Max's drink with sleeping pills, and when he falls asleep, the trio tries to flee. Mali knocks Max out when he awakens, and the three of them run into the night toward safety.

The three reach a train station but find the train already left, forcing a setback. Mali injures her ankle during the escape, heightening the peril as Simon closes in.

Gameboy, another guard, sweeps the station—also a truck stop—as Mali groans in pain. She tells Amba and Sara to run, and the three flee into a waiting truck, driven by a narrow chance at freedom.

They reach a bus station, buy two tickets, and head for safety, only to spot Simon on a nearby bus. They duck, hide, and manage to evade him, keeping their plan alive as they move toward freedom.

Sara is finally reunited with her younger sister and Amba reaches out to her family, who are overjoyed to hear from her. Simon and Diane are arrested along with others involved in trafficking; Mali is shown with a group of prostitutes, crying as one of them is taken away, underscoring the ongoing tragedy of the case.
