Australian airline pilot David Keller survives the Boeing 747 crash near Adelaide, with no injuries while all 300 passengers die. He wakes up with no memory of the disaster and begins to experience unsettling visions that seem connected to the crash. The visions hint that the accident was not an accident.

After the crash, Keller becomes the focus of a media frenzy as photographers hope to profit from his story. One photographer Keller assaults returns home, where his girlfriend develops the pictures and a burned-child apparition appears to beckon him toward a cemetery. The photographer is killed by a passing train, slain by the supernatural force pursuing Keller.

A vigil is held at the crash site, with a Catholic priest delivering a solemn sermon for the victims' families and onlookers. The ceremony highlights communal grief and unanswered questions about the crash. Keller watches but remains emotionally distant from the proceedings.

Keller encounters Hobbs, a clairvoyant who claims to be contacted by the victims' spirits. He rebuffs her, and a struggle ensues during which both seem to be overtaken by the victims' emotions. The encounter plants the seed for a joint, supernatural investigation into the crash.

Hobbs is drawn to the home of the photographer who was killed by the train. The girlfriend continues processing photographs in a dark room, but the images reveal disturbing portraits of the burn victims rather than newsworthy scenes. The woman is attacked by supernatural forces and killed by a heavy paper cutter.

Hobbs persuades Keller to seek spiritual guidance from a Catholic priest, then the two decide to return to the crash site together. The duo hopes to uncover the truth by combining spiritual guidance with investigative persistence. The plan marks a turning point from denial toward active retrieval of memories.

Hobbs guides Keller into the intact cockpit within the wreckage, triggering regressive memories recounting the moments leading to the crash. He recalls a passenger discovering a bomb on board, followed by detonation that causes the plunge. Keller awakens from the vision and they flee the wreckage together.

Shortly after the memory sequence, Tewson, Keller's peer, arrives at the crash site and is killed by an unseen figure. The act underscores that the truth behind the crash is dangerous and protected by a supernatural force. The event raises the stakes for Keller and Hobbs as they push forward.

Guided by Hobbs's impressions, Keller drives around the city to confront the truth, culminating at an airplane hangar. There they encounter Slater, a colleague who admits planting the bomb to kill Keller and seize control. Slater declares a cold disregard for the 300 passengers as he reveals his motive.

As the victims' screams fill the hangar, a massive airplane engine bursts into flames, engulfing Keller and Slater. Hobbs watches in horror from outside as the inferno consumes them both. The confrontation ends with Keller's death and the revelation of the bomber's guilt.

The wreckage crew haul away sections of the plane and discover Keller's burnt corpse seated in the cockpit. The discovery confirms the brutal truth of the crash and Keller's direct involvement with the events leading to the disaster. The case closes with a grim reminder of what was sacrificed.
