The film opens with a strong trade unionist leading the fight to improve workers' lives. He is blackmailed by a corrupt businessman who threatens to kill his family if he continues opposing him. Forced to yield, the unionist is attacked by the very labourers he once inspired.

Raja's arm is branded with the taunt 'My Father Is A Thief', and the family is persecuted as traitors. The unionist runs away, leaving Seetha and their two boys in destitution. They are forced to begin life on the margins.

Seetha takes the children to Madras and works as a day labourer to keep them alive. The boys grow up away from their father's former life, facing hardship and social stigma.

Raja grows up acutely aware of his father’s perceived failure and becomes a target for bullying. The experience hardens him and shapes his drive to rise by any means.

Raja starts as a boot polisher and then becomes a dockyard worker in Madras. He gradually turns to smuggling and rises to become a leading figure in the underworld.

To keep Ravi in school, Raja sacrifices his own education, choosing family duty over personal advancement. This act deepens their bond even as Raja treads a darker path.

Ravi grows into an upright police officer and begins dating Radha, the Commissioner's daughter. His sense of justice contrasts with Raja's criminal world.

On the Commissioner's suggestion, Ravi applies to join the police and undergoes training. Months later he is accepted as a Sub-Inspector.

Raja suddenly becomes wealthy, moving into a palatial home. Ravi is shocked to see his brother in this new light, reflecting a dramatic turn in their paths.

Ravi is assigned to arrest hardcore criminals, and one of his targets turns out to be Raja. The conflict between family loyalty and duty tears at him as he confronts his brother.

Raja begins a relationship with Anita, who becomes pregnant. He decides to abandon the underworld, marry her, and seek forgiveness from his mother and Ravi.

Anita is brutally murdered by rival underworld members, triggering Raja's brutal revenge against his rivals. This act cements his fall deeper into crime.

Their mother, who had sided with Ravi, is tormented by Raja's choices and ultimately rejects him. The family bond fractures under the strain of his actions.

The brothers meet for a final showdown. Ravi defeats and kills Raja, ending his brother's criminal arc in a tragic confrontation.

Ravi is publicly rewarded for pursuing justice and restoring order. Raja dies in his mother's arms, seeking forgiveness as the family is left to grieve the consequences of his life choices.
