Perfect Sisters

In the midst of a chaotic family life, senior high school student Sandra Andersen grapples with her troubled home environment, which includes her junior sister Elizabeth, affectionately known as “Beth,” and their seven-year-old brother Robert, often called “Bobby.” Their mother, Linda, has been ensnared in a series of toxic relationships, dealing with a string of abusive boyfriends whose impact has devastated the family dynamic. Frustration grows within the sisters as they witness their mother’s circumstances spiral out of control, prompting them to devise a drastic and chilling plan.

With meticulous care, Sandra and Beth orchestrate a scheme involving their friends Justin and Ashley, manipulating them into making dinner reservations. Their true goal is much darker; they plot to get Linda intoxicated, drugged, and ultimately drowned in the bathtub of their apartment. After the horrendous act is completed, Sandra is left to grapple with profound guilt, while Beth surprisingly revels in the freedom that follows their mother’s death.

As they attempt to adjust to their new life under the guardianship of their aunt, Bobby unexpectedly reconnects with his estranged father. The community remains oblivious to the sisters’ involvement in Linda’s demise, mistakenly attributing her tragic death to a combination of substance abuse and drowning. This misinterpretation of events catapults Sandra and Beth into newfound popularity at school, allowing them to share embellished stories of their mother’s passing without raising suspicion.

However, the facade begins to crumble when an older friend of Sandra’s starts to suspect that something is amiss. After Sandra insinuates that Linda’s death might not have been an accident, her friend reports his unease to the authorities. Subsequently, police instruct him to wear a wire and gather more evidence by interviewing Sandra. As the investigation unfolds, both sisters face intense scrutiny, with Beth maintaining an unsettling calm while Sandra struggles under the overwhelming weight of her remorse.

Ultimately, the evidence mounts against them. In a shocking turn of events, both Sandra and Beth receive sentences of ten years in prison, accompanied by a strict ban on any contact, sealing their fates and leaving them to ponder the consequences of their chilling actions.
