The Accountant

Ray King, played by JK Simmons, is seen socializing at a bar during bingo night. A young woman named Anais, played by Daniella Pineda, approaches his table, signaling the start of a tense encounter. Some men working for Burke are watching them, hinting at coming danger.

Ray presents Anais with a photo of a family from El Salvador, the Sanchezes. He intends her to help locate them, as he was hired by Edith, the wife’s father, who wants to find her family. Ray reveals his goal is to uncover their whereabouts rather than harm them.

As Ray tries to escape upon sensing danger, he fights off two men inside the bar but is soon pursued outside. In the street, he is gunned down, ending his life and setting off the investigation by authorities.

Treasury agent Marybeth Medina visits the morgue and confirms the identity of Ray King. She discovers the phrase 'find the accountant' written on his arm, hinting at an ongoing investigation related to the murder.

Christian Wolff, played by Ben Affleck, communicates with his handler, Justine, before participating in a speed-dating event. His unique algorithmic approach to dating results in him turning off potential matches, reflecting his social awkwardness.

Burke and his enforcer Cobb discuss Anais’s interference in their criminal activities. Burke orders Cobb to travel to Fort Worth to eliminate anyone investigating Ray and Anais, escalating the danger for all involved.

Marybeth starts delving into Ray’s documents, discovering links to Chris Wolff. She also finds a connection to Chilean ex-Special Forces and Edith Sanchez’s tax records, leading her closer to uncovering the deeper criminal network.

Chris Wolff and Marybeth question Tomas, a suspect involved with Burke’s organization. Before he can testify, Cobb assassinates Tomas and his lawyer. They also learn Emiliano Gonzalez, Edith’s father, was murdered, further complicating the case.

Chris and Brax ambush Tomas and his associates at a motel, forcing Tomas into custody after a brutal fight. They also retrieve critical information about Tomas’s trafficking activities, revealing the scope of Burke’s operation.

Marybeth and her team use hacking tools to find surveillance footage of Anais from the night Ray was murdered. They identify a selfie taken by Pamela, which captures Anais at a crime scene, linking her to the violence.

Through her investigation, Marybeth uncovers that Anais was Edith Sanchez, a woman trafficked and subjected to traumatic events that turned her violent, including an attack at a mental facility where she regained her memory. This revelation explains her erratic behavior.

Anais finds Burke and confronts him with a large knife, recalling her past trauma and her connection to the crimes. She sees a photo of Edith with Gino and Alberto, triggering her memories of being trafficked and witnessing Burke’s murder of Gino.

Chris and Brax head to Juarez to rescue kidnapped children being held at Burke’s compound. They engage in a fierce shootout, ultimately freeing the children and killing Cobb, the mercenary involved. They evacuate the children in a bus to safety.

Chris and Brax locate Alberto, Edith’s son, being held in a makeshift hideout. After a confrontation with Burke’s men, they rescue Alberto and bring him to safe hands while defeating the villains involved in trafficking.

After recovering from her injuries, Marybeth resumes her work, expressing gratitude for the efforts to save the children. She acknowledges Ray’s impact and the ongoing fight against organized crime, while the hackers start working on integrating Alberto into a safe environment.
