In the year 1375, a small political envoy sets out on a crucial mission to China to meet the esteemed Ming Emperor. This journey is intended to foster diplomatic relations between Korea and China, a significant endeavor in a tumultuous political landscape.

Upon reaching Chinese territory, the envoy encounters a grave misunderstanding that leads to their arrest. Mistakenly identified as spies, the Korean diplomats find themselves in a perilous situation, jeopardizing their diplomatic mission.

While being transported, the envoy is ambushed by fierce Mongol marauders. This unexpected attack results in the brutal killing of the Chinese guards, allowing the Korean envoys to escape their captors amidst the chaos.

In the aftermath of the ambush, all the Korean ambassadors are lost, leaving behind the inexperienced general to take charge. Faced with overwhelming responsibilities, the general must quickly adapt to lead his remaining men.

The soldiers learn that the Mongols have kidnapped the Ming Emperor's daughter, creating urgency for a rescue mission. The previously diplomatic mission transforms into a desperate attempt to save the princess.

In a bold and decisive move, the Korean soldiers launch an ambush to save the kidnapped princess. The daring rescue illustrates their bravery, as they confront the Mongol forces head-on.

Among the brave warriors, Yeo-sol engages in a fierce duel with the injured Mongolian general Rambulwha. Despite his victory, Yeo-sol shows mercy by allowing Rambulwha to escape, illustrating his complex character.

With the princess rescued, the Koreans are determined to return her to the Ming Emperor. They aim to rectify their earlier diplomatic blunder and prove their loyalty amidst the chaos caused by the Mongol pursuit.

The group sets out for a seaside fortress mentioned by the princess, hoping it will serve as a sanctuary. This journey is fraught with danger as they evade aggressive Mongol search parties hot on their trail.

As they travel, social class tensions surface within the Korean ranks, exacerbating their struggle for survival. The lower-class soldiers are resentful of their treatment and display a lack of faith in the young general's leadership.
