The Relief of Belsen

The ambulance team is pulled away from the Northern Front to respond to a medical emergency at Belsen. On arrival they are confronted with a vast, besieged camp and initially suspect it is merely a prisoner-of-war site. Their sense of what they face will soon be upended as the true scale unfolds.

They quickly discover that the camp houses primarily Jewish women and children rather than POWs. The numbers are staggering: about 40,000 prisoners across two hundred huts living in horrific conditions. The British team understands the magnitude of the tragedy they are stepping into.
