As Johnny X (Will Keenan) and his loyal crew of extraterrestrial misfits take on the flashy persona of a rebellious gang, they set off on a wild adventure across the desert in their beloved vehicle. Meanwhile, in a cozy diner, Bliss (De Anna Joy Brooks), Johnny's former lover, turns to Chip (Les Williams), an unsuspecting diner employee, with an enticing offer: escape their mundane lives and journey across the open road together. However, the arrival of Johnny and his gang quickly disrupts Bliss's aspirations as he enacts the powerful abilities of his enigmatic glove to ensnare her. In a twist of fate, Chip's decisive action—using a cleverly positioned vehicle—disables the glove and frees Bliss from Johnny's clutches.
In their frantic escape to an abandoned drive-in theater, Bliss unveils the startling reality behind Johnny's relentless pursuit: he had created a "resurrection suit" designed to dominate anyone with special metal implants, of which she had stealthily appropriated most, leaving Johnny with just the right-hand glove. This sparked his desperate quest for dominance. Soon, Chip and Bliss find themselves entangled with King Clayton (Reggie Bannister), a flamboyant concert promoter who proposes to assist them in exchange for a heartfelt favor regarding Bliss's safety.
Clayton's request is steeped in nostalgia as he urges Johnny to use the resurrection suit to revive his deceased idol, rock legend Mickey O'Flynn (Creed Bratton), whose tragic passing has left him heartbroken. Johnny reluctantly agrees, seeing this act of unexpected kindness as a means to facilitate his gang's eventual return home.
However, calamity strikes when Sluggo (Jed Rowen), a member of the gang with a penchant for mischief, disastrously overloads the resurrection suit during O'Flynn's concert comeback. This catastrophic error results in the legendary rock star rising as a lumbering zombie, embarking on a nightmarish quest alongside Sluggo to hunt down Bliss.
As events unfold, Sluggo's sinister motives become shockingly evident: he aims to exploit the resurrection suit to amass a legion of reanimated corpses. Faced with an impossible choice, Johnny reluctantly bows to Sluggo's demands and reunites with his undead father, only to receive a poignant admonition from O'Flynn before his subsequent demise: do not let Bliss down as he had disappointed Johnny.
In a climactic showdown, the gang bands together against Sluggo, ultimately triumphing and freeing themselves from the burden of their extraterrestrial exile. In a heartfelt resolution, Johnny and Bliss choose to abandon their cosmic duties, opting instead to seize a fresh start together on Earth, vanishing into the sunset as they embrace the adventures that lie ahead.
