Rahul Mehta and Baalu are born on the same day to very different families. Rahul is born into a wealthy English family, while Baalu is born into a middle-class Brahmin family in Mumbai. Their distinct upbringings set the stage for future differences and eventual swapping of lives.

Growing up with his grandfather Shambunath Mehta, Rahul dreams of visiting India to see his parents' graves. Shambhunath worries that Rahul might waste his wealth pursuing pleasure and romance. The trip to India becomes a pivotal desire that shapes the subsequent events.

Rahul escapes his guardians at the airport and ends up in a taxi driven by Baalu, who curses the wealthy on the same birthday. Rahul reveals his true identity to Baalu, surprising him and forging an unlikely friendship. This encounter seeds the plan that will swap their lives.

Rahul asks Baalu to take his place, and Rahul takes Baalu's role as a taxi driver. Baalu agrees to the plan and steps into Rahul's elite world, while Rahul prepares to occupy Baalu's life. Rahul also informs Ram Singh that a replacement will arrive to take his place.

Baalu, living as Rahul, reaches a hotel where he must adopt wealthy manners and etiquette. Ram Singh struggles to groom him to behave according to high-society norms. The disguise creates tension but also opens doors to new opportunities.

Rahul, in Baalu's world, goes to Baalu's place and unexpectedly meets Paro, instantly falling for her. Meanwhile, Baalu, posing as Rahul, discovers his own love interest in Pooja. Both relationships complicate the swapped lives and deepen the stakes.

Disguised as Rahul, Baalu attends a meeting with V. P. Mathur and falls in love with Mathur's daughter Pooja. The romance adds another layer to the deception, intertwining corporate and personal loyalties.

Mehta Industries is in shambles due to corrupt managers. Dattabhau explains the crisis to Baalu, who, still in Rahul's guise, takes charge and reopens the company with a policy of equal profit sharing among laborers. The move stabilizes the business and earns public support.

Paro's father, P. V. Shastri, learns of Rahul and Paro's romance and is enraged because Rahul is Christian. Baalu intervenes to calm the situation, and Rahul resolves to transform himself, even considering becoming a Brahmin to marry Paro. The tension drives the moral and cultural stakes of the story.

Rahul's grandfather Shambhunath, based in the UK, travels to India to exert control over the situation. With Mehta Industries now seemingly under Mathur's influence, the Mathurs plot to kill Rahul and Shambhunath. The threat escalates the danger surrounding the swapped lives.

Rahul and Baalu join forces to protect Shambhunath from the hired gangster. They confront the deadly plan and fight to keep the grandfather safe, risking their own lives in the process. The duo's loyalty deepens as the danger grows.

The story culminates with Rahul marrying Paro and Baalu marrying Pooja, reuniting the lovers and restoring social balance. The swapped lives find their rightful outcomes, blending romance with the triumph over adversity. The film ends on a hopeful note of new beginnings for both couples.
