Solomon Kane

Kane leads his ship's crew in an assault on a fortress town in North Africa, facing Ottoman defenders. After defeating the defenders, they raid the fortress, but demons overwhelm most of the crew. Kane fights his way to the throne room, where the Devil's Reaper confronts him and claims his soul. Kane rejects his fate and escapes by leaping from a window.

One year after his voyage in North Africa, Kane returns to England and seeks sanctuary in a monastery, renouncing violence and giving his wealth to the Church in hopes of redemption. He hopes to cleanse his soul through piety and humility.

A prophetic dream triggers the abbot to expel Kane from the monastery. Stripped of refuge, Kane leaves to continue his quest for redemption in the wider world.

While traveling, Kane is ambushed by robbers who mock his vow of pacifism and leave him for dead. He is found and rescued by the Crowthorns, a Puritan family traveling west, who bring him back to health.

On the road with the Crowthorns, a wandering witch marks Meredith, signaling dark forces that will target the family. The mark foreshadows the danger to come and hardens Kane's resolve to protect them.

Malachi's followers ambush the Crowthorns, abduct Meredith, and kill her father and brothers. Kane is forced to confront the rising threat and vows to rescue her.

Devastated by Meredith's kidnapping, Kane abandons his pacifist vow and pledges to rescue her. He steels himself to confront Malachi and the dark forces ravaging the land.

Kane battles Malachi's followers across the countryside, rescuing many captives. He continues to search for Meredith but does not yet find her.

A deranged priest explains that Malachi's followers enslave the weak and corrupt the strong. He tries to feed Kane to his parishioners, but Kane escapes the trap.

Former shipmates recognize Kane and attempt to recruit him as resistance leader, but he refuses. The inn is attacked by Malachi's followers, led by the Masked Rider, and the resistance leaders are crucified. Meredith cries out Kane's name from a cage in the raiders' wagon, and he uses the moment to pull himself free.

Kane is saved by the survivors and is healed by a pagan woman, which rekindles his determination to confront the raiders. He prepares to press the fight against Malachi.

Kane leads the rebels into Malachi's castle via an underground passage and frees many captives. In the dungeons, his father reveals that the Masked Rider is Kane's older brother Marcus, now disfigured and serving Malachi.

Kane reluctantly kills his father at his request, then confronts Marcus in a duel. He defeats Marcus by setting him on fire and decapitating him.

Malachi releases a demon using Meredith's blood to claim Kane's soul. Kane kills Malachi and sacrifices himself to close the portal, with both Malachi and the demon sucked back through it.

Kane awakens, declares that his soul is redeemed, and buries his father and brother. He reunites Meredith with her mother and vows to roam the Earth, fighting the forces of darkness.
