In a realm ruled by dark magic, Traigon Roberto Ballesteros must sacrifce his firstborn to the god Caligara to keep his powers intact. After twin daughters Mara Lynette Harris and Mira Leigh Harris are born, their mother refuses to reveal which sister came first. She flees with the infants and convinces a peasant to raise them as warrior boys; the determined Traigon pursues, inflicting a mortal wound upon her, though she fights back with a spear and banishes him for twenty years before she dies.

Enter Krona Martin LaSalle, a wandering, hippie‑like wizard who arrives just in time to lend his aid in the defeat of Traigon. He bestows upon the twins magical powers and formidable martial‑arts abilities, and he rallies them with a guiding maxim: to call upon the higher power named Vital whenever trouble closes in.

When Traigon returns, he resumes the hunt for his now‑adult daughters—the Harris sisters—still bent on offering them as sacrifices to Caligara. To stand against their father, the twins enlist a diverse band: a sly satyr, Pando David Millbern; a curly‑haired barbarian, Erlick Roberto Nelson; and a fierce Viking, Baldar Bruno Rey. Together they navigate a world of danger, deception, and discovery.

In the city’s bustle, Pando’s eyes linger on Mara and Mira, and Baldar appears just as Erlick uses loaded dice to win at gambling. His opponents grow angry, but he escapes and joins the growing alliance. Traigon’s forces strike hard, killing the twins’ adoptive parents and raping their adoptive sister, a brutal blow that the group must endure as they press on. Krona, now older, arrives and steps into a life‑threatening fire, apologizing for arriving too late to save that family.

At a safe house, the trio of allies helps the twins shed their boyish garb and cylindrical hats; Baldar and Erlick, who had once called them “lads,” are flustered as they confront the truth that these are not boys at all. The adventure grows wilder still: Traigon’s trained apes hurl exploding fruit at their party, and one ape is promised to Mira as a prize.

Soon Traigon’s forces capture Erlick and Mara and bring them to his looming castle. Erlick is stripped bare and poised for impalement, but a revelation of royal blood frees him just in time. Traigon decides that Erlick’s royal lineage could be useful in preparing Mara for the sacrifice, dressing Mara in feminine attire and arranging a forced union with Erlick.

Amid this peril, Erlick and Mara share a clandestine romance, which Mira can sense telepathically. Pando senses the tension and rallies a growing village and goat army to aid Baldar and Mira in their rescue mission. The stakes rise as Mara is nearly sacrificed, but she remembers the name Vital and another benevolent force—an aerial lion‑like god—appears in the sky, blasting Caligara with beams and halting the assault with radiant power. The oppressive threat dissolves, and Traigon is slain by the twins.

In the aftermath, Erlick cradles Mara and Mira, while Baldar watches in wonder. Erlick reminds him of the film’s recurring refrain: the twins are “two who are one,” a truth that binds them anew as they laugh together and step forward into an uncertain, brighter future.
