The climax erupts when the children realise that the only way to halt the nightmare spilling from Amber’s sketchbook is to fight it with their own drawings. Jack builds a clunky, robot‑like defender on paper, but the clever purple‑faced demon—born from Amber’s anger—shreds the sketch before it can materialise. With the monster still prowling, Bowman steps in, using his noisy bravado to draw its attention while Jack improvises a makeshift flamethrower. Amber, out of ink, plunges her arms into the magical pond and summons the tentacled creature she had once doodled on herself, turning her own fear into a weapon.

Seeing that brute force alone won’t end the chaos, the siblings resort to the simplest of their art: the sweet, innocent sketches they made before the grief took hold. Jack hurls these early doodles into the water, and the pond breathes them back as swarms of gentle love‑bugs, soft‑hearted beasts, and a massive, goofy bear. For Amber, the resolution comes in the form of a luminous yellow butterfly that flutters from the pond—a memory of her mother’s own butterfly drawing. The butterfly’s glow signals that the love she thought lost still lives on, giving her the hope to move forward. In the film’s closing beats, the family stands together, united by the realization that imagination can both summon monsters and, when guided by love, summon the light that finally dispels them.
