Gulshan, once a hot‑headed assistant coach who fled from his own emotions, is forced by the court to train a group of specially‑abled children. At first he dismisses them as “misfits,” but as he watches each of them—Raju, Lotus, Sharmaji, Guddu, Sunil and especially Hargovind—struggle and succeed in their own ways, the hard‑won honesty of their lives begins to chip away his defensive walls.

When Hargovind, a talented player with invisible autism, refuses to play because he discovers that two non‑special‑needs youths have been slipped onto the roster, Gulshan convinces him and his mother to let him rejoin. Even though the team’s funds evaporate, Gulshan’s wife Suneeta, posing as a police officer, pressures a shop owner who exploits one of the players, securing sponsorship that sends the team to the finals in Mumbai.

In the tournament the team does not take the gold; they lose to the other side. Instead of sulking, the youngsters celebrate as if they had won, reveling in the fact that they competed together. From this Gulshan learns that victory isn’t about crushing an opponent but about finding joy in the effort and in each other’s company.

The experience also forces Gulshan to confront his own past. He learns that his mother has found companionship with the family house‑help, a truth that shocks him but, after seeing the children’s acceptance of themselves, he finally understands that his mother, like anyone, deserves happiness. He begins to let go of the abandonment fears that have kept him from committing to a family, and he decides he can become the father he once feared he would be.

When his former boss Paswan calls to praise Gulshan’s work with the kids and mentions a forthcoming vacancy, Gulshan is offered the head‑coach position of the state basketball team. On his last day at the old office he is moved to tears, but before he walks away he returns to the children, who tease him for his melodrama and remind him that life goes on. The film ends with Gulshan finally embracing the lessons the kids taught him—humility, empathy, and the courage to face his own shortcomings—signaling his transformation from a self‑absorbed skeptic to a compassionate mentor and, ultimately, a better human being.
