Return to the Lost World

Hammonds and his drilling crew arrive in the Lost World to extract crude oil. They begin capturing natives for slave labor and brutally push Chief Palala off the plateau. Palala survives the fall and is rescued by Malu, who carries her to a nearby village.

News of Palala's fate travels to England, where Edward Malone and Jenny Nielson inform Professors Challenger and Summerlee of the promise to return if Palala or the Lost World needs them. The warning creates urgency for an expedition to rescue their ally.

Malone and Jenny manipulate the feuding professors, making each believe they are the rightful expedition leader. Challenger and Summerlee reluctantly agree to join, still wary of each other's authority. They board the steamship bound for Africa and prepare for the journey.

On arrival, they are guided by Malu to the base of the plateau, where Chief Palala has been located. They discover Palala alive and in need of assistance. The reunion underscores the stakes of their mission.

Dinosaur attacks hinder Hammonds' drilling, and when his crew taps into a volcanic pipe, a volcanic eruption is triggered and threatens to destroy the entire plateau. The eruption even destroys the plane that delivered the expedition.

Hammonds and Gomez hijack Palala's daughter, threatening to kill her unless the natives reveal how to escape. The situation escalates as the eruption rages, forcing both sides to improvise under pressure.

Challenger and the others arrive by the same route they used to depart, emerging from the caves to confront Hammonds' group. They free Palala's daughter and take control of the situation.

Challenger shoots Gomez, killing him, and Hammonds is captured by the rescuers. With their primary foe neutralized, the group continues to work toward stopping the eruption.

Challenger devises a plan to halt the volcanic eruption by using a special explosive dubbed Challengerite. Boxes of the explosive are prepared in a cave near the eruption site.

Inside the cave, Hammonds pursues Jim and tries to entice him with wealth. Jim triggers the Challengerite charges, halting the eruption and seemingly killing Hammonds in the blast.

Summerlee congratulates Challenger on the success of the Challengerite and the group's efforts. They reflect on what it means to protect the Lost World from human intervention.

With the danger contained, they muse on how much longer they can keep the Lost World safe from exploitation. The group acknowledges the responsibility that comes with their knowledge and the need for vigilance.
