Rampage

The West German zoo offers Otto Abbot a dangerous assignment: to capture a pair of Malay tigers and the Enchantress. He hires American trapper Harry Stanton to lead the operation. Abbot also intends to bring along his ward Ana, setting up an early personal rivalry between the two men.

Abbot and Stanton travel to recruit beaters, but locals are wary and uncooperative. Stanton overrules Abbot and promises that no guns will be used if they gain support, winning the chieftain over with that bargain. The plan hinges on a temporary truce to drive the cats into nets.

Two tigers are captured and a tense truce holds while the operation progresses. Abbot overreaches with an overzealous shot to scare a third tiger, breaking the fragile agreement. The partnership fractures as the hunters' rivalry resurfaces with a small, depleted crew.

They track the Enchantress to a cave on a mountain top, where a plan is devised to drive it out through a distant exit. Stanton coordinates the plan while Abbot, eager to prove himself, enters with a torch. He is mauled and saved by Stanton, who completes the retrieval.

Stanton saves Abbot and completes the Enchantress capture, but the two men complicate the trip home with constant bickering. Ana's presence only intensifies the rivalry, fueling uneasy tension among the trio.

On the journey back toward Germany, Ana's affections begin leaning toward Stanton. The rivalry grows louder as each man asserts himself and questions the other’s claim to Ana. The atmosphere becomes charged with unspoken competing motives.

On a train bound for Germany, Ana tells Abbot she is through with him. The confession compounds the fracture in their relationship and pushes Abbot toward a drastic act that will affect the mission. The dynamics between the hunters reach a breaking point.

In a jealous, reckless move, Abbot releases the big cat from its cage inside the freight car, leaving Stanton trapped with it. The cat is unleashed into the train’s environment, turning the journey into a dangerous standoff. Stanton survives the ordeal thanks to his skill and luck.

The Enchantress escapes the train when it arrives, leaping into the outside world. A massive police dragnet is deployed to recapture the animal, turning the pursuit into a city-wide chase. The event marks a dramatic escalation of danger.

The cat is tracked to the top of a tall building where the final confrontation unfolds. Both Abbot and Ana are armed as the cat closes in, and Abbot attempts to shoot Stanton. The standoff culminates with the cat attacking Abbot, forcing Ana to take decisive action.

The Enchantress mauls Abbot during the rooftop confrontation, killing him. Ana shoots and slays the cat, ending the immediate threat. The personal feud resolves in tragedy as Abbot dies and Stanton survives.

In the aftermath, Stanton offers Ana a 'marry-cloth' as a betrothal symbol, and she accepts. The resolution settles the romantic arc in favor of Stanton and Ana. The mission ends with a grim mix of victory and personal cost.
