Raj Mathur and his son Kabir Mathur move from their New Delhi house back to the family’s old home in Chandni Chowk after Kabir’s mother dies in an accident. Kabir, a gifted guitar player, is visibly unhappy with the move, resenting his dad for forcing him to leave friends, his band, and the home steeped in memories of his mother. [Raj] tries to stay calm and explains that he hopes to reconnect with old friends, but tension rises as Kabir accuses him and the two drift into loud, painful disagreements.

Communication between them remains fragile. [Raj] signs up for Facebook to bridge the gap, only to be blocked by his son. At Beeji’s urging, he fabricates a new online persona and adopts the identity of a girl named Tara to reach Kabir. This bold deception kicks off a chain of events that tests trust, patience, and love in unexpected ways.

Meanwhile, Seher is a real person whose life in Delhi is far from easy. A salon worker who often borrows money from her abusive boyfriend Baljeet to get by, she is trapped in a precarious cycle of exploitation and escape, rarely finding a way out of the debt she’s pulled into. Her story of struggle and resilience runs parallel to Kabir’s, setting the stage for a complicated, intertwined journey.

Kabir gradually senses that his father has also endured a profound loss—his partner after the mother’s death—and this shared sorrow becomes a bridge between them. On Facebook, Kabir begins talking to Tara, the persona his father created, and the conversations open his heart in surprising ways. In time, he finds himself drawn closer not only to Tara, but to the man who created her, and to a broader circle of friends who inspire him to move forward. He forms a new band and even writes a song inspired by the idea of Tara’s dad—the very poem his father had written for Kabir’s mom—giving their music a poignant, personal edge.

The band lands a chance for a live performance at a popular venue, and Kabir heads back to New Delhi to pay tribute to his mom at their old house. He discovers the house has been sold, a discovery that infuriates him because his father hadn’t told him. The show goes well, and in the crowd, Seher appears and shares a kiss with Kabir as she tries to escape her possessive boyfriend, only to slip away again. Conflicted, Kabir leaves his father’s home to live with a friend, determined to find Tara and reconnect with the new sense of belonging he’s started to feel.

Raj, sensing that the game might be up, tracks down the real Seher, and convinces her to pretend to be Tara long enough to coax Kabir back home with his friends. Seher, who has her own complicated history and fears, finds herself unexpectedly drawn to Kabir, even as she wrestles with the possibility of love.

As their relationship blossoms, Seher reveals details about her past: she was an obedient daughter who became pregnant by a different man, stole money from her family to support him, and was abandoned when he fled to Canada. After an abortion and years of independence in Delhi, she longs to return to Meerut, but her conservative family won’t accept her. She and Kabir spend Diwali with Raj, and their night together closes with a kiss in her rented flat.

The next day, Raj urges Seher to end things with Kabir, but she confesses that she has fallen in love. Raj, questioning her past, lashes out and insults her, accusing her of being different from Kabir. Heartbroken, Kabir’s faith wavers and he withdraws from the band, while Seher throws herself into paying off debts and rebuilding her life. Kabir, devastated, returns to his father, who pretends to have a heart attack to force a conversation. When the truth comes out, Kabir learns of the deception and finally understands that his father’s misdirection stemmed from love and the desire to protect him. The two share a emotional hug, and Raj encourages Kabir to go after Seher and fight for what they’ve started together.

With renewed honesty, Raj’s family and friends help Kabir locate Seher, and he finds her again. The two reconcile, and the band resumes its electric, hopeful momentum in the background. Seher returns to Meerut with Kabir, repairing bridges with her own family along the way. They begin building a life together in Chandni Chowk, where Kabir’s heart and voice claim their true home. The final scene closes on a moment of calm pride: Kabir looks at the pigeons lifting above the street as he chooses to spend time with Seher, his family, and their friends, signaling a future built on trust, music, and a shared sense of belonging.
