In 1939, at the Bodega Bay Inn in California, puppeteer André Toulon completes his latest creation, a puppet named Jester. Toulon prepares to bring Jester to life, showcasing the culmination of his craftsmanship and skills.

Two Nazi spies arrive at Toulon's room, forcing him to act quickly. Warned by his animated puppet Kahn, Toulon hides his living puppets in a secret compartment to protect them from the impending threat.

As the Nazis breach Toulon's room, he chooses to take his own life to avoid capture. This tragic decision marks the end of his attempts to safeguard his secrets and creations.

Fast forward to 1989, four psychics, including Professor Alex Whitaker, Dana Hadley, Frank Forrester, and Carissa Stamford, are contacted by their acquaintance Neil Gallagher. They are drawn to the Bodega Bay Inn, where mysteries await them.

Upon arriving at the inn, the psychics learn of Neil Gallagher's recent marriage to Megan and his apparent suicide. Dana confirms Neil's death by stabbing his corpse, revealing the dark turn of events that have transpired.

As the psychics settle in at the inn, they begin to experience unsettling visions of Neil. Their connection to the paranormal intensifies, pointing to the lingering influence of Neil and the dark secrets that haunt the location.

During dinner, Dana provocatively addresses Megan, leading to tensions at the table. Meanwhile, the puppet Pinhead unexpectedly emerges from Neil's casket, signaling the return of Toulon's creations and hinting at the chaos to come.

The psychics discuss their unique abilities and reveal their shared history with Neil. They uncover Neil's obsession with alchemy and his aspirations to reanimate figures, setting the stage for their mission to reclaim Toulon's secrets.

That night, chaos unfolds as housekeeper Theresa is attacked by the puppet Pinhead, confirming Dana's grim predictions. The atmosphere turns sinister as the psychics realize that they are not alone and danger lurks within the inn.

Further horrors ensue as various psychics encounter gruesome fates at the hands of Toulon's puppets. Blade attacks Dana, slitting her throat, while Tunneler and Leech Woman unleash their deadly attacks on Carissa and Frank, respectively.

Alex is tormented by nightmares before discovering Toulon's diary, which reveals Neil's dark secret of reanimation. The diary becomes a key to understanding the horrific events that have transpired around Neil's life and death.

The psychics confront the resurrected Neil Gallagher and learn of his twisted quest for immortality through Toulon's secrets. However, Neil shows disdain for the puppets, revealing a dark conflict that culminates in violent chaos.

In a shocking turn of events, the puppets revolt against Neil after he abuses Jester. Tunneler, Blade, Leech Woman, and Pinhead unite to exact revenge, showcasing the consequences of Neil's hubris and mistreatment of Toulon's creations.

The next day, as the chaos settles, Megan bids Alex farewell and ascends the stairs of the inn. In a strange twist, she brings Dana's stuffed dog, Leroy, to life, hinting at her own latent abilities and connection to the supernatural.
