In a disturbing twist, they find a carved wooden hand inside the box, a tangible remnant of the mystery surrounding Magrew’s experiments. Meanwhile, Jane encounters Joey and his friends again, who sexually harass her, a vile interruption that tests her resolve. Robert arrives just in time to intervene, defending Jane, but Joey’s threats push the tension toward violence. A clash erupts, and Jane pulls Robert away, returning to the house with the memory of danger gnawing at them.

That night, Robert confesses that he felt a dangerous surge while choking Joey, and Magrew explains that this reaction represents the “violent inner self” he has warned about. Joey’s next visit to the House of Marvels marks a grim turn. Joey manages to flee, but Magrew and Robert arrive too late to prevent the trouble, and Joey escapes with a warning that the danger is far from over.
