Murattu Kaalai

Kaalaiyan, a well-to-do but honourable landlord, lives with his four brothers in a village. Sundaravelu pressures him to sell the property, but Kaalaiyan remains firm. Saamipillai, Sundaravelu's covert mole, watches the village and the reactions to the offer.

Sundaravelu engineers a jallikattu festival with the prize being Soundaryam's hand in marriage. The village buzzes with the spectacle as a means to pressure Kaalaiyan. Saamipillai helps orchestrate the setup and the scheme.

Kaalaiyan proves his prowess by winning the dangerous jallikattu. He refuses Soundaryam's hand, aware of Sundaravelu's deceit, which disappoints Soundaryam and insults Sundaravelu. The feud between the two landlords intensifies.

Sundaravelu becomes smitten with Kannamma, a girl from his village, and proposes marriage. When she declines, he tries to molest her, prompting Kannamma to seek protection elsewhere. The seeds of the future confrontation are sown.

Kannamma seeks shelter at Kaalaiyan's house and helps with domestic tasks, winning the brothers' affection. Villagers begin to gossip about the unlikely alliance. Kaalaiyan grows protective of Kannamma and her safety.

To prevent the alliance, Kaalaiyan's brothers push for a marriage between Kannamma and Kaalaiyan. Sundaravelu, guided by Saamipillai, sends his henchman Sangili to disrupt the plan. Sangili carries a brutal past, having killed Kannamma's father.

Sangili confronts Kaalaiyan as part of Sundaravelu's scheme, but Kaalaiyan subdues him without killing. The mercy leaves Sangili alive, though the feud continues to escalate. Sundaravelu intensifies his plan to ruin Kaalaiyan.

Sundaravelu eliminates Sangili and uses the murder to frame Kaalaiyan for Sangili's death. The arrest is staged in the lead-up to the wedding, heightening the tension and distrust between the families. The community starts to turn against Kaalaiyan.

Police arrive to arrest Kaalaiyan at the wedding venue on Sangili's supposed murder. He escapes amid the chaos and disappears into the forest, seeking safety from a now-hostile town. Kannamma remains at his side in spirit, though cut off from the crowd.

Soundaryam locates Kaalaiyan in the forest and reveals Sundaravelu's true misdeeds and the brothers' schemes. Sundaravelu trails her; the confrontation is imminent as loyalties are tested. The forest becomes a battleground for truth versus treachery.

A clash erupts between Sundaravelu and Kaalaiyan as he tries to eliminate his rival with a knife. Soundaryam steps between them to protect Kaalaiyan but is killed by Sundaravelu. The loss deepens Kaalaiyan's resolve against his brother's cruelty.

With the police closing in, Sundaravelu orders thugs to attack Kaalaiyan on a moving train. Kaalaiyan fights and subdues the attackers, forcing one thug to inform Sundaravelu that he and the police are dead. The pursuit moves to the next phase.

During Sundaravelu's birthday party, Kaalaiyan and Kannamma arrive in disguise and reveal their true identities. A battle erupts until police arrive to arrest Sundaravelu, while Saamipillai steps forward with crucial evidence and his own identity. The turning point signals the end of Sundaravelu's reign.

With overwhelming evidence against him and all support gone, Sundaravelu shoots himself to avoid arrest. Saamipillai's testimony seals the downfall, and Kannamma and Kaalaiyan's victory seems possible at last. The feud resolves only through Sundaravelu's demise.
