In the end, Narvel Roth, who has struggled with a dark past as a white supremacist and murderer, chooses to reject the cycle of hatred and violence that once defined him. After confronting his past when RG and Sissy vandalize his home and threaten Maya, Narvel decides not to kill them, despite having the opportunity. Instead, he injures them severely to prevent their future harm and to send a clear message to stay away from Maya and their destructive beliefs. This act signifies his attempt at redemption and explains his desire to completely break free from his violent history. Narvel returns to Norma’s estate and makes a final stand by demanding the garden be restored and that he and Maya be allowed to live together as husband and wife, signifying his final rejection of Norma’s manipulative control. When Norma tries to threaten him with an empty gun, Narvel exposes her powerlessness, showing that he no longer fears her or her authority. In doing so, he takes control of his future, choosing love and redemption over violence and hatred, and as the garden begins to flourish again under his care, it symbolizes his renewed hope and the possibility of true change.
