Kuruppumash and his wife Kunjulakshmi visit a temple to pray for a child, setting the stage for their family ambitions. The visit also underscores Kuruppumash's role as the headmaster of a public school and their shared hopes for an heir. This moment anchors the stakes around parenthood that drive later decisions.

At the school, the DEO initially vents his anger over the delay before learning of the couple's childless status. He gives Kuruppumash an ultimatum to either get a medical checkup or marry another woman who can bear a child. The threat sets the plot in motion toward a drastic family decision.

Feeling guilty, Kunjulakshmi makes a suicide attempt, catalyzing Kuruppumash to marry Saraswathi to secure another heir. Saraswathi becomes the second wife and moves into the family, altering the household dynamics. The decision tightens the web of competing loyalties that follows.

Kunjulakshmi gives birth to a son, while Saraswathi becomes pregnant and later has a son and a daughter. The new arrivals intensify the rivalry as both wives claim a stake in the family’s future. The household becomes crowded with competing loyalties and responsibilities.

With children from two wives, Kunjulakshmi tries to push Saraswathi out of the home, but Kuruppumash refuses since Saraswathi is now his wife with child. The two women end up living separately—Kunjulakshmi in the old house and Saraswathi in a nearby house—further straining family harmony. Rivalry erupts into daily tensions.

As Madhavankutty (son of Kunjulakshmi) and Krishnankutty (son of Saraswathi) reach adulthood, they both attend an interview. They race to the interview area in a taxi, and their competitive spirits spill into the grounds, where they damage the garden. Both are expelled from the interview as a consequence.

Suma, Krishnankutty's sister, is stalked by a college student; when the student grabs her hand, she slaps him. Madhavankutty steps in to defend Suma, triggering a scuffle and drawing Krishnankutty’s scolding not to pursue Suma.

Auto-rickshaw driver Manikandan brings Radhika to Kuruppumash for a job interview. After a high-speed ride, Kuruppumash falls, and Manikandan drops Radhika at Kunjulakshmi’s house, where Kuruppumash refuses the job. He then introduces Radhika to Saraswathi as a potential bride whose marriage could give Saraswathi custody of the school.

Subadhramma, Radhika’s mother, moves into a rented house with her daughter. The arrangement lays the groundwork for family alliances and a new route to influence the school’s future. Radhika’s presence thus intensifies the competition for a favorable match.

Subadhramma suffers chest pain and is admitted to the hospital, with Madhavankutty waiting to visit Radhika there. Krishnankutty donates blood to aid Subadhramma’s recovery, highlighting the intertwining of personal and medical crises.

In the hospital, Madhavankutty reveals that Krishnankutty is suffering from an illness that cannot be cured, escalating the bid to win Radhika’s hand. The revelation deepens the rivalry as both men press their advantages to secure a suitable match.

Madhavankutty pressures Subadhramma with money to influence the match and to fund Suma’s marriage expenses, while Krishnankutty pushes Pisharody Mash toward early retirement. Mash, intoxicated, agrees but dies in an auto tragedy on the way out, casting suspicion on Madhavankutty and Manikandan.

Following Mash’s death, Madhavankutty and Manikandan are falsely accused of murder. Suma hides them in the attic of Krishnankutty’s house, and Krishnankutty shuts the attic door, leading to their arrest and mounting tension within the family.

On the day of the marriages, Madhavankutty and Radhika are to wed while Suma prepares to marry her college foe. A fight erupts in a paddy field between Madhavankutty and Krishnankutty, and Kuruppumash is accidentally injured and hospitalized after a fall.

Madhavankutty, Krishnankutty, Kunjulakshmi, and Saraswathi ultimately become friends, softening the feud. The doctor hints that Kuruppumash may not recover memory, but the ending reveals he was pretending to have memory loss as he winks at Manikandan as they drive away from the hospital.
