Last Night in New York

Ellie leaves rural Cornwall and arrives in London to begin her studies at the London College of Fashion. She struggles to fit in and endures bullying from her roommate Jocasta, while John offers quiet support. Frustrated with dorm life, she moves into a bedsit owned by the elderly Ms. Collins.

That night, Ellie has a vivid dream transporting her back to the 1960s. At the Café de Paris, a confident Sandie asks about becoming a singer, and she begins a relationship with the charming manager Jack. The following morning, Ellie designs a dress inspired by Sandie and discovers a love bite on her neck.

Inspired by Sandie, Ellie dyes her hair blonde and adopts her fashion style. She lands a job at a pub and begins to feel more confident, though a silver-haired man in the background seems to recognize her resemblance to Sandie. The dreamlike inspiration bleeds into her waking life.

In further dreams, Ellie watches Sandie audition at a Soho nightclub, arranged by Jack. The visions hint that Sandie is not living the life she hoped for, and that Jack is exploiting her in ways Sandie never anticipated.

Ellie is haunted by increasingly menacing apparitions resembling Jack and the men who exploited Sandie. A vision of Jack seemingly murdering Sandie pushes her to seek help, but the police do not take her seriously and a kindly detective expresses concerns for her wellbeing.

Desperate for answers, Ellie searches newspapers for reports on Sandie but instead finds stories about local men who vanish without a trace. The lack of concrete information deepens her sense that something dangerous is happening around her.

Believing the silver-haired stranger is Jack, Ellie confronts him in a pub. He denies killing Sandie and leaves, but is struck by a passing taxi and killed. Ellie learns he was Lindsey, an undercover vice officer connected to Sandie's life.

Ellie is told by her boss that the deceased man was Lindsey, an undercover officer. Her dreams have been tying Sandie's fate to real people, blurring the line between past and present. The revelations force Ellie to confront the truth behind her visions.

Ms. Collins confesses that she is actually Sandie, the 60s star Ellie has been pursuing in her visions. She explains how she came to London and why she has kept her life hidden, acknowledging that she drugged Ellie to silence concerns about Sandie's world.

A scuffle in the bedsit triggers a fire that spirals out of control. Ellie fights to escape while John comes to help but is stabbed by Ms. Collins. Ellie's visions of Sandie's victims intensify as she confronts the building's danger.

Inside the burning building, the spirits of Sandie's victims urge Ellie to avenge them, but she refuses to surrender to that cycle of violence. She fights to survive and protect those around her.

With police outside, Ms. Collins attempts suicide to avoid consequences, but Ellie intervenes. Sandie appears to guide Ellie, insisting that she must save John and herself as the building burns around them.

In the aftermath, Ellie debuts her fashion designs at an end of year show to applause from her grandmother and John. She sees her mother smiling in a mirror and, in a final twist, Sandie appears in another mirror to blow a kiss.
