Kuberaa

In the closing act of Kuberaa, Deva’s desperate fight against the corrupt elite reaches its brutal climax. After narrowly escaping the guard’s slip‑up that allowed him to flee the guest house, he discovers that the same “beggars” – Khusboo, Dibya, Khelu and himself – are being used as benami fronts for Neerij Mitra’s massive oil‑money laundering scheme. When the first two are murdered, Deva realizes the stakes and seeks help from Deepak Tej, the former CBI officer who now works for Neerij.

Deepak, torn between his haunted conscience and the fear of returning to prison, finally decides to turn the tide. He leads Deva to the apartment of Narayan Gaikwad, the government officer who facilitated the illegal agreement, where a stash of cash is hidden. There he hands Deva the damning evidence he has collected and urges him to run. In a self‑sacrificial act, Deepak stays behind, fighting off Neerij’s men and absorbing multiple gunshots so that Deva, along with Sameera and the pregnant Khusboo, can escape. As he lies dying, he asks Deva to remember him as an older brother, and his last breath is a quiet triumph for having done the right thing.

Khusboo later dies giving birth, leaving Deva and Sameera with a newborn. Determined to make the corrupt profiteer feel the weight of his crimes, Deva dumps the entire hoard of illicit cash in front of Neerij’s house, turning it into a sensational news story. He then forces Neerij to beg on the streets for a day, a symbolic reversal of the beggar’s life Deva once endured. The final confrontation is stark and personal: Deva confronts Neerij, shows him the video evidence, and, having never killed before, slits Neerij’s throat, ending the man who had treated people like “insects.”

With the money now in his possession, Deva transfers it to a Swiss account and earmarks it for Khusboo’s child, whom he and Sameera name Kuberaa—the very title of the film, a promise of hope for the downtrodden. Though the petroleum minister remains untouched, having already found another corrupt partner, Deva walks away with no desire for wealth, choosing instead a life of quiet resistance and a commitment to uplift those left behind.
