Malcolm takes Liz to a remote countryside cabin to celebrate their one-year anniversary. They discover a boxed cake left as a supposed gift from the caretaker, which unsettles Liz. The setting establishes a claustrophobic, ominous mood that threads through the evening.

Darren and his model girlfriend Minka arrive unannounced, derailing the quiet night. Minka speaks English and comments that the cake tastes awful, telling Liz to beware. Malcolm scolds Darren and insists Liz eat the cake later, sparking unease.

Liz begins to experience disturbing visions of screaming, bloodied women and a pregnant woman who looks just like her. The apparitions intensify the sense that something ancient and dangerous surrounds the house. The visions foreshadow the horror to come.

Malcolm begins to age rapidly and is attacked by a creature, showing the toll of the creatures’ life-extension pact. The malevolent atmosphere constrains both of them to a brutal power struggle. The household becomes a battlefield between human deceit and monstrous hunger.

The next morning, Malcolm is found suspended upside-down from a tree, while Liz, now with black eyes like the creatures, approaches him. She feeds him some of the drugged cake, and he pleads for release before she drowns him in a jar of honey. Liz then walks away, visibly transformed by the events.

With Malcolm dead and the ritual completed, Liz leaves the property with her new, unsettling power fully in place. The jars of honey and the disembodied head of their mother hint at the ongoing horror beneath the surface. Her transformation seals the fate of the family’s dark pact as she disappears into the trees.
