The ending of It Follows leaves viewers with a strong sense of ambiguity and lingering dread. The final shot, with Jay and Paul holding hands as a shadowy figure silently approaches, hints that the threat persists, and they remain caught in an endless chase. The open-ended nature invites viewers to interpret whether the monster is truly defeated or merely momentarily stopped, with some believing that the creature is still out there, waiting.
