Katie arrives at Micah’s house in San Diego to begin moving in, bringing with her a claim that an evil presence has haunted her since childhood. To document any paranormal activity during their sleep, Micah installs a camera in their bedroom. A psychic, Dr. Fredrichs, visits the couple and offers a clear warning: Katie is believed to be haunted by a demon that feeds on negative energy and thrives on torment. He advises against communicating with the demon without a trained demonologist, but Micah presses on, continuing to film and seek out evidence.

From there, the footage unfolds as a chilling account of a house that seems to wake up at night. The early signs are subtle—a few noises, flickering lights, and the occasional movement of the bedroom door—but the phenomena steadily grow louder and more aggressive. Thuds replace soft sounds, doors slam with force, and there are harsh, guttural bursts that feel both alien and menacing. In one unsettling moment, Katie appears to be in a trance: she rises from the bed, stands beside it for what feels like hours, then steps outside, all while she later cannot recall any of it.

A new element intensifies the fear: a Ouija board brought into the home by Micah. When the couple is away, the camera reveals the demon moving the board’s pointer, and the device suddenly catches fire. As Katie grows more irritated by Micah’s flippant attitude toward the situation, she pleads with him to contact the demonologist, yet he refuses to escalate the situation. The house seems to reveal more of its secrets through the camera lens, including strange, non-human footprints appearing in a trail of baby powder Micah sprinkles in the hallway. The footprints lead to a burnt photograph of a young Katie hidden in the attic, a relic that was thought to have been destroyed in a prior house fire.

The outside world remains inaccessible; the demonologist is out of the country, and Dr. Fredrichs worries that engaging further with the demon might only anger it more. The events take a darker turn when Katie is forcibly pulled out of the bedroom by an unseen force during the night. The following morning, Micah discovers a bite mark on Katie’s back, prompting him to want to leave the house, though Katie insists on staying and shows signs of possession.

On night twenty-one, the terror peaks once more. Katie rises, stares at Micah for two hours, then screams as he rushes to her aid. The camera captures Micah’s own pain and turmoil as a violent thud rings out. After a moment of silence, Micah’s body is thrust violently toward the camera, which is knocked off its tripod. Katie stands in the doorway, stained with blood, and crawls toward Micah. She fixes the camera with a grotesque grin, and as she lunges, her face contorts into a demonic snarl before the scene cuts to black.

The epilogue delivers a stark aftermath: Micah’s body is found by the police, and Katie is missing, leaving the fate of both hauntingly unresolved and the house echoing with the echoes of what happened within its walls.
