An elderly man visits a quiet graveyard at dusk and places flowers on a tomb. From the stillness, he hears a muffled struggle coming from a nearby coffin and discovers a girl buried alive. He rushes her to the hospital, where Inspector Anton Varghese orders the doctors to monitor her closely and keep him posted the moment she wakes. A vigilant officer guarding the girl’s room phones an anonymous contact about the living survivor, hinting at a concealed danger. An attempt to smother the girl unfolds, but she manages to alert the nurse, and the inspector is summoned. Yet, before help can truly arrive, the girl finds a way to escape from the hospital, leaving everyone shaken and the mystery unresolved.
The survivor is soon identified as Sonika, the mistress of a powerful political figure, Mandar Mhatre. She is a photography student who endures isolation and torment at the hands of Mandar, her captor and controller. In college, she quietly discovers comfort in a friend who loves her from afar—a hopeful bond with Akshay Bedi that promises a life beyond fear. The pair’s growing affection brings a fleeting sense of freedom, and they decide to run away together to forge a new path away from Mandar’s reach.
But Mandar learns of the elopement and descends with force. He and his men storm Akshay’s house, and Sonika’s pleas to spare him fall on deaf ears. Akshay is killed—bound to a rope and cast into a lake from a car—while Mandar also drives Sonika into a grave fate, burying her alive in a coffin. Rescue follows, and Sonika vows vengeance against the man who betrayed her body and spirit. Her resolve sharpens as she begins to map out a long-delayed reckoning.
With her newfound purpose, Sonika eliminates the police officer who tried to end her life and starts logging her torture and ordeal in a personal journal. She dives back into the same lake, retrieving that journal and tucking it into the car as a stark record of what she endured. Then she targets another of Mandar’s men connected to Akshay’s death, ending his life as a form of justice. She informs the inspector about Akshay’s body, only to see Mandar manipulate the narrative to frame Sonika for the crime.
Arrest follows, but Sonika slips away with the help of the very man who is supposed to hunt her down. She continues her campaign of retribution by eliminating a second conspirator and crosses paths with Mandar’s rival, aiming to reach the third man who aided in Akshay’s death. Yet Mandar’s ruthlessness seals the fate of that ally as well, killing him to protect his own position. The rival had become a partner after Mandar offered to share seats in the election, a brutal reminder of how politics corrupts every line between friend and foe. As the arrests pile up, Mandar publicly casts Sonika as the author of multiple murders, forcing the police to close in on her.
Driven by the need to survive and seek justice, Sonika evades capture once more with the help of the same pursuit that once hunted her. She learns that Mandar’s wife has begun to see the truth behind her husband’s facade and decides to turn the tables. In a decisive confrontation, Sonika ends Mandar’s tyrannical hold on her life with the wife’s aid, peeling away the last layer of deception that protected him.
The very next day, Inspector Anton arranges a secure, locked-down refuge for Sonika and grants her a new life under the alias “Veronica,” a carefully chosen identity designed to keep her hidden from a world that would rather forget the truth than face it. This quiet shelter cements her new beginning, one built on resilience, vengeance, and the hard-won sense of freedom she fought so fiercely to claim.
