In a world filled with despair, Jack Mason, a homeless man from Seattle, faces an unimaginable tragedy when he loses both his only friends—Hank and his faithful dog—within a mere 24 hours. Stricken by grief and contemplating the depths of his misery, Mason’s fate takes a turn when he encounters Walter Cole, a caring worker at a soup kitchen, who intervenes just in time to prevent him from ending his life. This act of kindness paves the way for a surprising opportunity: Thomas Burns, a businessman, extends a job offer to Mason as a hunting guide.
Mason embarks on a journey to a remote cabin surrounded by dense woods, where he meets the rest of the hunting party—wealthy individuals who have each paid a staggering $50,000 for this exclusive experience. Among them are Doc Hawkins, the mysterious founder and psychiatrist, John Griffin, a Texas oil magnate, and Derek Wolfe Sr. along with his son, Derek Wolfe Jr. That evening, the men share their stories over dinner, with Hawkins unsettling the group by recounting a chilling childhood memory involving his father’s cruel lesson in masculinity.
Things take a dark turn when Mason wakes up to the chilling sight of Cole’s gun pointed at him, realizing the horrifying truth: the men are not hunting animals but rather hunting him. Given a brief advantage, Mason runs into the wilderness. However, he soon returns, courageously confronting his pursuers. The hunters, now on his trail, include Wolfe Jr., who grapples with his father’s nefarious influences. Upon returning to the cabin, Mason uncovers a terrifying revelation—a trophy room filled with the mummified heads of their previous victims, shedding light on the true malevolence of the hunters.
As Mason hatches his revenge, he ignites a fire in the cabin using various chemicals he gathered outside. A fierce altercation ensues between Wolfe Sr. and Hawkins, oblivious to the impending doom. The explosion claims Hawkins’ life, while Wolfe Jr. heroically rescues his father just as Mason escapes into the night.
Determined to outwit his pursuers, Mason cleverly misleads them. He ignites cigarettes and leads them on fruitless chases, ultimately taking Griffin hostage. During this confrontation, Mason learns of Griffin’s pain—a desperate quest for vengeance against the man he believes killed his daughter. Moved by Griffin’s sorrow, Mason contemplates sparing his life. However, Cole’s intervention disrupts any chance for redemption. In a calculated move, Mason sabotages an ATV, leading to a fiery explosion that gravely injures Cole, rendering any attempt at mercy from Burns futile.
As tensions escalate, Wolfe Jr. meets a grim fate, falling down a ravine, prompting his father to seek brutal retaliation against Mason. The climactic showdown looms as the two adversaries prepare for a final duel on their second night together. Ultimately, Mason emerges triumphant, leaving Burns fighting for survival.
Days later, Burns returns to Seattle, desperate to escape from Mason’s vendetta and the consequences of the nightmarish hunt. Yet, Mason is relentless in his pursuit. A brutal confrontation ensues, culminating in Mason’s final victory as he seizes Burns’ weapon.
Instead of ending Burns’ life, Mason shockingly discards the gun, allowing Burns a chance to retaliate. Unbeknownst to him, Mason has tampered with it, orchestrating a thrilling twist that closes their deadly game—when Burns pulls the trigger, the gun malfunctions, sealing his own fate in a tragic, ironic conclusion.
