Happy Mother’s Day, Love George

Johnny Hanson arrives at a remote New England fishing village and makes his way to Ronda's Cafe. He sits at a table and asks the owner, Ronda Carlson, for her name when she approaches, then departs after she answers. Shaken, Ronda returns to the kitchen where Eddie, the cook and her boyfriend, asks if that was him and she nods.

Roy, the town's police chief, pulls Johnny over and takes him to the station for questioning. He searches Johnny and finds several letters that hint at his purpose in town. Roy explains that several people have disappeared recently and warns Johnny to leave immediately.

Johnny walks past Cara's house and Celia smiles at him from the doorway. Cara notices her daughter's interest and lashes out at Celia, then shifts her attention to her son Porgie, revealing the simmering tensions in the family.

After his release, Johnny is beckoned inside by Celia. Inside, Celia spies on her neighbor Piccolo with Crystal, signaling the tangled intrigues that will plague the town.

Celia tries to seduce Johnny, but he declines. He tells Celia that he learned from letters that Ronda is his mother. Celia then shows Johnny photos of her father, dead before she was born, and Cara returns home, prompting Celia to lock Johnny in her late father's office, from which he escapes.

Eddie quits his job in a fury and later finds Johnny outside, delivering a beating. Ronda hurries out and helps Johnny into her house. Inside, Johnny sees that Ronda has mounted pictures of him on the wall and she expresses regret over giving him away while refusing to name his father.

After church on Sunday, Cara's neighbor Florence invites Johnny to her house. Florence reveals that Cara and Ronda have not spoken since George, Johnny's presumed father, was murdered in his front yard. The revelation adds to the village's sense of isolation.

Porgie visits Ronda and learns that Johnny is her son. Ronda asks him to pass the information to Cara, but Porgie suggests she tell Cara herself. Meanwhile Celia continues spying on Piccolo and Crystal and throws a paper airplane containing a message to meet her at the summerhouse.

Celia arranges a rendezvous with Piccolo at the summerhouse and insists Crystal accompany him. They head there, setting a plan in motion that will bring deadly consequences.

Inside the summerhouse, Crystal discovers Piccolo's corpse after waiting with Celia. Panicked, she tries to escape, but the door is locked and she finds another dead body in the bathtub. Celia then steps forward with a cleaver, and Crystal, terrified, leaps from a window to her death.

Porgie's fishing net pulls up a corpse, signaling the harbor's danger. Johnny visits Ronda and demands to know his father's name; she tells him his father is dead. He finds a clipping about George and hurries to Cara's house to tell Cara that George was his father.

Cara explains that George had an affair with her sister, and Celia was born insane after Cara stabbed her own stomach to abort. She admits she killed George in a jealous rage and offers Johnny George's watches and rings as proof.

As Johnny waits in the living room, he hears Cara scream and sees Celia running downstairs. Rushing upstairs, Johnny finds Cara dead. Celia then grabs a knife and a struggle ensues as she tries to stab Johnny.

At dawn, Roy takes Celia to jail while Johnny hitches a ride out of town. The village is left to reckon with the family secrets that have exploded into violence. Johnny departs, carrying the weight of the truth about his origins.
