Gurozuka

A member disappeared and another was hospitalized after a nervous breakdown, leading to the club's closure. The school responds by shutting down the film club and dispersing its members. The incident becomes a dark origin that haunts the survivors and their later decisions.

Maki and Ai restart the school film club with the aim of making a horror film about the events that shuttered it. They intend to explore what happened and turn the tragedy into their creative project. The plan rekindles the group's bond and invites new participants.

Natsuki, Yayoi, and Yuka join the revived club and are taken to the secluded Yuai House by Yoko, Maki's sister. Takako accompanies them, bringing an awkward dynamic to the group. They settle in at the lodge to begin planning their shoot.

Maki and Ai unveil an old 8mm tape titled Gurozuka that was found in the club room. The footage is set at the lodge and depicts a masked killer with a meat cleaver attacking a co-star. The students debate whether what they see is real or fiction.

The next day, the car won't start and all the food, cell phones, and wallets vanish along with the planned Noh mask and cleaver. The group realizes they are cut off from the outside world and their equipment is missing. Tension spikes as they face a manufactured isolation.

Night falls and Natsuki disappears from the lodge. Takako and Yuka are non-fatally poisoned, prompting Yoko to leave in search of help. The survivors rally awkwardly to preserve their plan under mounting danger.

Ai watches footage shot by Natsuki that shows her being assaulted by someone wearing the Noh mask. The scene confirms that danger may be rooted in the film project itself. Fear and paranoia begin to take hold among the group.

Ai runs outside and encounters Maki, who claims she has seen the masked woman moments before. Maki’s confession intensifies the mystery and tests trust within the group. The boundary between cinema and reality blurs as tension rises.

They discover the missing food dumped in the woods along with the Noh mask and a bloodied cleaver. The evidence suggests internal manipulation and a dangerous game is afoot. The threat tightens as the survivors realize they are being watched.

Returning to the lodge, the trio finds Takako and Yayoi missing and soon stumbles upon the bodies of Natsuki and Yayoi. The danger turns personal as the group confronts the grim consequences of their project. They press on, hoping to reach dawn.

Back at the lodge, Yoko arrives bloodied, begging for help as the Noh-masked figure breaks in. The situation shifts from mystery to imminent danger as a killer enters the space. The group braces for another night of terror.

Ai is chased outside by the killer and discovers Yuka's corpse and a dying Takako. The immediate danger becomes personal as the killer closes in. The group’s collapse into chaos accelerates the climax.

The killer corners Ai and pulls off the Deigan mask to reveal that Maki is the murderer. Maki explains that the Gurozuka obsession drove her to kill and to claim Ai as part of a cannibalistic fantasy. Her confession shatters any pretense of safety within the group.

Ai stabs Maki in the chest with a nail they had found earlier, ending the immediate threat. Maki dies, and Ai breathes a tense sigh of relief, uncertain of what comes next. The night’s terror gives way to a fragile calm.

Ai wakes up at Yuai House and joins Yoko in watching Gurozuka again, which Yoko muses seems to drive people insane. Yoko repeats Maki’s line, suggesting a cycle of obsession and imitation that traps Ai. The ending leaves the characters caught in a chilling echo of the film they tried to make.
