Sriram, “Ram” Sumanth, is an IT professional who completed his Masters in the United States and returns to India with a clear mission: to serve the people by entering politics. He circles through political parties in search of a platform that fits his progressive ideals, a path that traditional politicians struggle to accept. Ram is deeply in love with his cousin, Rajeswari, known as “Raji” Neetu Chandra, and he hopes to marry her. Yet Raji’s father remains skeptical, dismissing Ram’s modest finances and his idealistic stance as impractical for real-world life in politics. The tension between Ram’s vision and the stubborn routines of conventional power becomes a recurring undercurrent in his choices.

Sita Mahalakshmi, or simply Sita, Kamalinee Mukherjee is a fashion designer who runs a boutique that struggles to stay afloat. She is an independent, career-driven woman who resists her parents’ wish to see her married off, yet financial pressures push her toward an arranged match. After a string of losses, she is forced to close the boutique. The proposed marriage to a groom’s family makes her uneasy, and the strain of unmet expectations leads her to withdraw and seek a break, culminating in a contemplative river journey on a Godavari cruise.

On the cruise, Ram’s path intersects with Sita’s in a series of fateful misunderstandings and moments of genuine connection. A chance encounter on board—when Ram notices Sita struggling to ascend a ramp and lends a helping hand—sets off a slow-building rapport. The two find their footing as friends as they navigate a spectrum of small-town personalities and larger-than-life travelers who share the river route to Bhadrachalam. The voyage is steeped in color and character: Captain Chintamani, Tanikella Bharani, runs the boat with a blend of stern discipline and hidden warmth; near him moves Pullamma Karate Kalyani Padala, a seller of a local delicacy who has a fierce loyalty to her younger brother and a knack for the boat’s social rhythm.

A breadth of other passengers adds texture to the journey: Chinna, a balloon seller with a big heart who must grapple with his mother’s illness and the loss of his balloons to a red-shirted antagonist; Kotigadu, a dog who longs for a better place and finds a kindred caretaker in Chinna; Veeraiah, a high-profile murder witness on the run with his pregnant daughter who joins the cruise as a cook; and Chilaka Ramudu, a fortune teller whose parrot serves as a quirky, restless witness to fortune and fate. The interactions between these characters—along with Ram and Sita’s evolving dynamic—give the voyage a lived-in, bustling energy that grounds the central romance in everyday human detail.

The relationship between Ram and Sita deepens as they move beyond initial friction. Sita starts keeping a diary to capture memories of the trip and to map the evolving feelings she has for Ram. She admires his sincerity and his unpretentious kindness, and she makes repeated, hopeful attempts to win his affection. When a treasure-hunt is announced during a stop, the pair team up, pooling their wits and teamwork. Throughout the competition, Sita longs to see Ram’s true intentions, and Ram’s choice to advocate for Chinna’s needs—asking him to let Chinna win—helps earn her respect and admiration. In a small, symbolic victory, Ram chooses compassion over self-interest, reinforcing the quiet but powerful connection budding between them.

Meanwhile, Raji and Ravi—the latter a self-centered IPS officer Kamal Kamaraju—are on the same treasure-hunt team and gradually reveal a clash between control and affection. Raji discovers Ravi’s chauvinistic tendencies and begins to question the match she had once imagined. Her jealousy grows as she notices how close Ram and Sita appear, complicating the romantic triangle and setting up a pivotal turning point in the narrative. A plan is hatched to deliver a note that would guide Ram to meet Raji at a designated location, but fate intervenes: the note is misplaced, the parrot flees with the clue, and the chance to reunite Ram with Raji slips away. As Raji’s plan to marry Ravi appears increasingly fragile, she withdraws, deciding to move forward with her arranged marriage—leaving Ram and Sita in a tangled emotional space.

Sita, meanwhile, grapples with the perception that Ram may still harbor feelings for Raji. She makes a painful choice to step away from the boat and pursue a standalone return home, believing she has disrupted Ram’s chance at happiness with Raji. Once ashore, she experiences a quiet loneliness as her designer prospects begin to bloom, yet the ache of Ram’s absence lingers. Ram, confused by Sita’s sudden quiet departure, discovers her diary and gains a window into her true feelings. He travels to Hyderabad to seek reconciliation, hoping to bridge the rift with Sita and explain his side of the story.

In a heartfelt exchange with her mother, Sita receives a gentle prompt toward forgiveness, opening a path to reconciliation. Ram eventually finds Sita, and a tense walk leads to a candid, emotional conversation. He reveals to her that the note’s plan was a fabrication—a device designed to nudge her toward a decisive choice—revealing that the blank page behind the ruse symbolized his true intent: his feelings for Sita had been genuine from the start. The confession rekindles trust, and Sita agrees to marry Ram. The film closes on a note of professional possibility and personal renewal: Ram discloses that offers from both ruling and opposition parties are on the table, signaling the next major step in his political career and, more importantly, the couple’s shared future.
