Fugitive Lovers

Letty Morris, a New York dancer, rejects Legs' advances and secretly boards a bus to Hollywood. Legs quickly intercepts and boards the same bus, determined to win her over. The bus fills with colorful passengers, including the Three Julians and the exuberant Hector Withington Jr.

As the bus travels through Eton, Pennsylvania in the middle of the night, convict Paul Porter escapes from the penitentiary and swaps into Withington's suit, concealing his identity among the luggage. He blends in with the passengers, setting the stage for future trouble. The audacious disguise goes largely unnoticed amid the bustle.

During a stopover in Harrisburg, Porter buys a seat on the bus and sits beside Letty to avoid Legs. Legs quickly suspects that the new passenger is Porter and threatens to turn him in, raising tension aboard. The search for Porter begins in earnest.

Withington discovers Porter's outfit in his luggage and informs the police, tipping off authorities. Legs tries to shield Letty but Porter realizes his cover is blown and quickly leaves the bus. The pursuit tightens as the group moves on.

Porter reunites with Letty in St. Louis, and they check into separate hotel rooms while waiting for the heat to die down. The couple plans to escape together once the danger subsides, but Legs is hot on Letty's trail.

Police arrive and mistake Legs for Porter. Legs is about to guide them to Porter, but seeing Letty tear up, he realizes she loves Porter and allows the police to arrest Porter instead.

Letty continues on the bus alone, accompanied by Detective Daly who pressures her for information about Porter and waits for him to rejoin her. The journey toward Hollywood resumes under tension as she travels.

A blizzard forces the bus to stop and the passengers are housed in nearby bungalows. As the police close in, Porter steals the bus, and Letty joins him, seizing a chance to escape together.

Porter and Letty stumble upon a crashed school bus filled with freezing children. They stop to help, but the heavy snow traps them, preventing their escape and deepening their predicament.

The next day, rescuers arrive to save the freezing children and arrest Porter and Letty. Their brave act against the odds draws official attention and seals their fate for the time being.

Despite the arrest, Porter is granted a pardon due to his bravery in helping the children. The outcome combines sacrifice and romance, offering a bittersweet ending to their flight.
