Several weeks prior, having adeptly solved the case of the mysterious disappearance and attempted murder of Lord Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge), Enola decides to launch her very own detective agency. She secures a small office in London, publishes advertisements in local newspapers, and gears up for a fresh start. Unfortunately, her aspiration is met with disdain, as potential clients dismiss her capabilities simply because she’s a young girl. Moreover, the prevailing belief is that the Tewkesbury case was primarily cracked by her illustrious brother, Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill). Sherlock, despite being embroiled in a myriad of intricate cases, seems to have hit a wall with his latest mystery.

Adding to the chaos, Enola’s mother, Eudoria Holmes (Helena Bonham Carter), is involved in various troublemaking activities, including dropping harmless explosives into mail pillars to advocate for women’s suffrage. Meanwhile, Tewkesbury solidifies his place in the House of Lords, emerging as a reform champion while keeping a correspondence with Enola, inviting her to an upcoming ball. Just as she packs up to leave, her first real client, a ten-year-old match girl named Bessie, arrives with a plea to find her missing sister.
