Harkonnen and Sardaukar forces launch a surprise attack, sabotaging spice harvesters and killing Duke Leto as part of a brutal invasion. Lady Jessica and Paul are kidnapped, and the Harkonnens begin their brutal takeover, causing chaos and destruction.

Duncan Idaho fights to protect the Atreides forces but is ultimately killed in the chaos. Duke Leto, incapacitated and betrayed by Yueh, attempts to kill Baron Harkonnen with poison gas, but Yueh’s betrayal seals his fate as the Harkonnens consolidate control.

Paul and Jessica flee from the Harkonnen attack during a sandstorm, surviving a sandworm encounter. They seek refuge in the desert to find the Fremen, guided by visions and signs of their destiny, while the Harkonnens hunt them down.

Paul and Jessica are rescued by Stilgar and the Fremen after a tense confrontation. Paul proves his worth by fighting Jamis and gaining their respect, marking his acceptance into Fremen society and beginning his transformation into the prophesied leader.

Paul has visions of a holy war and Chani, solidifying his role as the messianic figure 'Kwisatz Haderach'. The Fremen see him as a potential leader to transform Arrakis and challenge the imperial and Harkonnen powers.
