Colonel Curtis is the hardline commander driving the operation to contain the alien threat. He is ruthless in his pursuit of a quick victory, willing to kill those quarantined to prevent further spread. His arc culminates in a confrontation at the reservoir where he is killed.

Underhill is Curtis’ trusted second-in-command and a stabilizing presence during the crisis. He helps plan the escape from the camp and risks his life for others as the situation escalates toward the reservoir.

Duddits is the leukemia-stricken boy who shares the group telepathically. Despite illness, his connection to the others guides their actions and reveals the alien’s intentions. His sacrifice and knowledge influence the plan to thwart the invasion.

Rick is a man found in the forest who dies from the alien infection after being cared for in the cabin. His illness foreshadows the threat and heightens the urgency of containment.

Pete is a member of the hunting group who is abducted by Mr. Gray and fails to escape. His fate underscores the danger of the alien presence and the costs of resistance.

Mr. Gray is the alien entity that possesses Jonesy and later exposes himself as the true threat. His manipulation intensifies the suspense and culminates in a final confrontation that ends with a red-dust explosion.
