Death to the Supermodels

Tiffany Courtney is an overly perky editor at Merle Magazine who dreams big to give her publication a more legitimate readership. The magazine’s core audience at the moment runs from prisoners to transsexuals, priests and gays, so Tiffany pitches a bold plan: a tropical island swimwear shoot featuring the world’s top five supermodels. To pull it off, she enlists two asexual photographers from Germany, Gunter and Gerd, hoping their contrast with the models will create a splash that resonates beyond the magazine’s usual crowd.

The shoot is set on the sun-drenched Islands of Isis, a paradise that promises glamour but quickly proves prickly. The supermodels, at first willing, heat up the air with cattiness and rivalry, and Tiffany’s perpetual optimism only fuels their resentment. The stress of managing such fame on a remote island begins to wear on her, and soon she hears a disturbing internal voice—Ryan from her old self-help tapes urging her to murder the models. The discord and the voices intertwine, turning the vacation into a pressure cooker.

Before long, a masked force moves through the lineup. A Ninja begins to pick off the models in a chilling string of attacks. In one tense moment, P is shot in the back with a spear gun during a shoot, signaling the killer’s ruthless efficiency. Then, Hoo-Chi suffers a brutal end—her neck is broken during close-quarters combat with the Ninja. The complexity of Hoo-Chi’s life adds another layer to the mystery, as it’s later revealed she is a transsexual who appears as a man on her passport, complicating the usual cat-and-mouse dynamics of the island.

Despite the bloodshed, Tiffany remains determined to press on with the shoot. The next model to fall is Yo who dies after a bizarre and deadly twist: the Ninja tampered with the steroid suppositories she was taking to maintain her famous figure, triggering a fatal reaction amid a burst of flatulence. The remaining models struggle to piece together who is behind the deaths, and suspicion begins to rest squarely on Tiffany herself, thanks to the voices that insist she is responsible for all of the carnage.

As the final day approaches, Eva tries and fails to seduce the secluded, asexual photographers and abandons the project in a hurried scene. Her disappearance is followed by the grim discovery of Eva’s body alongside Gunter, tightening the net of conspiracy around Tiffany. The Ninja finally confronts Tiffany and Gerd, unmasking the killer as Tiffany’s own boss, Merle. The revelation turns the island’s nightmare into a reckoning of power: Darbie, Merle’s lover, is revealed to be the other side of the scheme, and her true name is revealed as Sarah. The duo had plotted to kill off the models to usher in a supposedly “new, intelligent” supermodel.

Within the web of deceit, Gerd is shown to be complicit in a broader plan to free himself from the dominance of the mute Gunter—a translator by trade who serves more as a conduit than a creative force. Merle discloses that Tiffany herself is a pawn in a larger machination, with the supposed voices inside Tiffany’s head actually part of a covert setup involving micro transmitters implanted in her ears during a cosmetic procedure to remove a freckle on her left nipple—something Tiffany worried might turn cancerous. The voices originate from Ryan, another associate of Merle, who is also Dieter in Eva’s life.

The final confrontation leaves Tiffany vulnerable as Merle turns the gun on her, attempting to persuade the others to abandon plans to kill anyone else. Tiffany’s plea to stop the slaughter is cut short as Merle shoots her, effectively framing Tiffany as the killer and clearing the path for Merle’s ongoing control of the emerging wave of models. The closing scenes pull back to a beach where Merle and Darbie—now revealed as Sarah—talk about what comes next, but the ending hints at a final, fatal shot from Sarah that leaves Merle’s grip on the new generation of models in question.

This twisted, sun-soaked thriller blends satire with a cruel murder mystery, painting a carnival of fame, manipulation, and ambition. It follows Tiffany’s hopeful matchmaking between media spectacle and marketable beauty, only to peel back the glitter to expose how far people will go to shape perception, rewrite reputations, and claim power on a global stage.
