Four strangers become entangled in a single, fateful elevator ride inside a city apartment block in Kochi, as a brutal murder unfolds and the lights die twice. In the aftermath, a sharp police investigation begins, led by Bimal Vaas, M B Padmakumar. He questions Shivan Kutty, the lift technician who claims to be new and unaware that the lift is troubled, while the four young people inside the lift—Teena, Feroz, Veeramani, and Thampi—are pulled back through their own pasts in a series of dramatic flashbacks that illuminate motive, opportunity, and danger.

Teena, Teena, Aparna Nair is introduced as the only one who remains physically safe when the lift is found and is immediately taken into custody. A playful, restless dreamer who left her family for the city’s glitter, she scrapes by in a women’s hostel and works at a jewelry store. At the store’s grand opening, Aby Thomas, Riyaz Khan extends her a tempting offer to run a shop of his own. Her bosses urge caution, warning that Aby’s advances carry risk, yet Teena keeps calling him. On the day of the incident she rushes to his apartment, claiming her mother is ill, a ruse that foreshadows the dangerous line between ambition and survival she will navigate under pressure.

Feroz, Vinay Forrt is a hot-tempered photographer who lives with the gnawing idea that he must earn enough money to start a new studio in the heart of the city. His story opens with a night of high emotion: he and a young actress, Sneha, are returning from a shoot with their filmmaker friend Mahadevan, when a seemingly random accident—Sneha is struck by an electrical pole—turns deadly. Mahadevan fears publicity and pushes Feroz to leave with him, leaving the dead girl behind. From that moment, a plan begins to take shape: Feroz secretly records Mahadevan and Sneha together, a photograph that becomes leverage for blackmail. With political ambitions on the line, Mahadevan enlists Jeevan, Salim Kumar to help arrange protection—and to silence those who threaten to expose him. Feroz discovers a dangerous path as he contemplates using the photograph to force payments, and soon a hired killer is brought into play.

Veeramani, Jayasurya is a man wrestling with a lifetime of failed expectations. An insurance agent with low self-esteem, he lives with his wife, Parvathy, and their daughter, navigating a fragile relationship with his parents who disapprove of his marriage. Depression gnaws at him as he makes rounds to drum up business, often stopping by the cinema to clear his mind. His life takes a darker turn when he secures a new client in Mahadevan, and on the same day he is drawn toward the same apartment building that will soon become a crime scene. Unknown to his family, Veeramani carries a secret that will later reveal a second life more dangerous than his public persona.

Thampi, Vinayakan is the trap in the midst of the lift’s blackout. A drug dealer who lives in the slums with two wives and a young daughter, he has just left jail and feels the city closing in around him again. A mysterious phone call lures him to a new job, and soon he is in the lift with the others. High on drugs and paranoid, Thampi misreads danger as he confronts the two younger men in the confined space. When the lights flicker back on, the scene turns violent: Veeramani is found stabbed, followed soon after by Feroz. Teena strikes back in self-defense, striking Thampi with the emergency telephone. The lift doors finally open, and Teena is arrested as the killer is still at large.

As Bimal Vaas compiles the evidence, more secrets emerge. The visitors’ book reveals that Veeramani and Feroz had both come to meet Mahadevan that day, while Mahadevan admits to knowing both men yet hides his entanglement in Sneha’s death. Thampi’s entry—the phone number of an empty apartment—points to a larger web of suspicion. The coroner’s report notes drug use and a trajectory that places Thampi as a potential target of paranoia—an interpretation that pushes Bimal to consider a conspiracy rather than simple coincidence. In the end, Teena’s charges are dropped, Feroz dies in the ICU, and Veeramani is discharged, but the truth remains only partly revealed.

Days later, Veeramani begins a pilgrimage to Palani, guided by his mother-in-law’s counsel and the police’s reports of his depression. Halfway there, a twist upends the journey: Veeramani departs the bus in Palakkad, boards a limousine with Shivan Kutty, and is revealed to be the contract killer Mahadevan hired to kill Feroz. The plan had Veeramani living a double life as a timid insurance agent to avoid suspicion. Shivan Kutty had helped him by tampering with the lift, while Jeevan served as the chain to the plan’s execution. Veeramani’s aim was to secure a cover for Mahadevan’s desires, orchestrating a chain of events that would culminate in the killings. Veeramani pretends to be depressed, Jeevan arranges for Mahadevan to secure his insurance policy, and Thampi’s call and the empty apartment number are all pieces of the larger scheme. In a final, brutal moment, Teena’s unplanned entry into the lift disrupts the plan. Veeramani had stabbed himself first, then Thampi, and Teena believed the other was the killer. In the closing seconds, Veeramani, Jeevan, and Shivan Kutty head toward Coimbatore International Airport, where a new assignment awaits, and the screen cuts to black.

This intricate, interwoven narrative uses a single elevator as a pressure chamber for past mistakes, deceptions, and hidden motives, revealing how every character’s past choices ripple into the events of the present. The film layers suspense with character-driven flashbacks, letting the audience piece together who was truly in danger, who was manipulating whom, and how far someone would go to protect a carefully constructed life.
