In a tense and gripping interrogation room, Vincent Stevens, a man with a dubious past, narrates his version of events, starting with an alluring sex scene that foreshadows a story fraught with betrayal and murder. As he spins his tale, it becomes evident that his existence is ensnared in a tangled web of deceptions and secrets. With his wife away on a ski trip with their children, Vincent claims he received an urgent call from Luke, prompting him to hastily head to a loft in New York City. Upon arrival, Vincent unveils the shocking sight of Luke and a woman’s motionless body sprawled on the bed.
Vincent’s narrative raises more questions than it answers, as he insists he has never been inside the loft, despite sharing the space with four other men—including Luke—who frequently indulge in affairs there. The police are dubious, fully aware that only five individuals possess keys to the property and that Vincent and his associates know the premises intimately.
As the investigation progresses, Chris, a psychologist, and Marty arrive at the crime scene, both horrified yet anxious about the implications of their presence. In a series of flashbacks, audiences are taken back to the events leading to the murder, starting with a celebratory gathering of architects—including Luke—marking the completion of their opulent loft, a key site for their clandestine rendezvous.
As pressures mount during the interrogation, Luke’s unease grows, especially as the group tries unsuccessfully to reach the fifth member, Phil. A chilling Latin phrase, “Fatum Nos Iun Geb It,” is scrawled in blood on the wall, adding to the ominous atmosphere. The police tighten their focus on Chris, demanding information about his half-brother’s whereabouts. Eventually, Phil arrives at the scene, but the men refuse to crack under the pressure, leaving the investigation stalled and the victim’s identity shrouded in mystery.
Amidst chaos, the night of Phillip’s wedding to Vicky Fry draws the men together in a rowdy conversation filled with gossip and scandal. Vincent, seemingly the quintessential host, hands out keys as tokens of camaraderie, each man accepting except Chris, who regards the act with indifference. Marty frets over etiquette, losing himself in worries about propriety, while the women mingle around them.
Chris, meanwhile, sneaks away to rendezvous with Ann, revealing his desires for her as he uses Vincent’s key as a bargaining chip for more intimacy. As the evening unfolds, the group navigates the cramped loft, searching for absent keys—a task Chris insists is unnecessary for him, even as others disagree.
A flashback features Chris spinning a web of complicated interactions with his friends and their spouses. While Ann’s suspicions about Chris’s fidelity rise, a raucous evening quickly devolves into anxiety and temptation. Tensions flare during an unsettled dinner with Luke discovering Phil misusing drugs, culminating in a distressing showdown among the group.
As they wrestle with what to do next, the group’s willingness to confront the handcuffed corpse becomes increasingly frantic. In her own private moments, Ann confesses to Chris her past as a prostitute but decides not to charge him for their indulgences.
The narrative builds as Marty’s life falls apart amid the chaos; his wife’s discovery of his betrayal leads to their separation. In the city nightlife, Vincent and his friends encounter Dana, whose striking presence sparks further intrigue. When they meet Hiram Fry and his entourage, an opportunity surfaces that could prove advantageous, albeit fraught with potential danger.
Back at home, Chris faces accusations from his suspicious wife, Allison, about his fidelity, intensifying the sleepless atmosphere. Through the labyrinth of deceit, the investigation reaches unforeseen levels as friendships crack under the weight of their choices. Each character, from Vincent to Phil, must confront their grim pasts while seeking a path toward truth amidst layers of collusion and treachery.
With tension escalating during the interrogation, Luke divulges his entanglement with Sarah and his unspoken feelings, prompting detectives to suggest deeper betrayals lie beneath the surface. Amid the mounting chaos, a pivotal encounter between Phillip and a prostitute sets off a chain reaction of fear, regret, and desperation.
As the night thickens, Vincent’s relationships fracture further, exposing the darkness within each character. Their intertwined fates lead toward a crescendo of revelations that will turn their lives upside down, leaving everyone perilously close to losing everything. The discovery of incriminating evidence ignites the suspense, leaving Vincent isolated and haunted by ghosts of his own making.
On a fateful dawn marred by betrayal, Phillip, Chris, Luke, and Fry scheme to frame Vincent for Sarah’s death, blurring the lines between loyalty and treachery. Each friend must grapple with their conscience as they pull the threads of their plan tighter, motivated by distrust and a desperate need for redemption. As their twisted motivations collide within the oppressive atmosphere, the haunting realization settles: every action commands a price, and the consequences spiral downward into darkness.
