In Los Angeles, Dean operates Turbo Elite Ambulance, one of several ambulance services in the city. Unfortunately, Dean’s fleet is limited to just two aging vehicles and a trio of employees. Once a firefighter like many in his family, an injury has altered his path.
During a routine night shift, Dean and Eric respond to an emergency call in their ambulance, dubbed Danger One. Upon arrival, they find a man injured and no police presence. A second man, initially denied entry to the ambulance, becomes aggressive before being allowed to join when he loses a fight to one of the EMTs.
As their shift continues, Eric’s home life weighs on him. His partner, Val, is frustrated with his constant absences, especially with their four-month-old daughter, Nora, and their older son, Sam, falling ill. Val’s maternity leave is almost over, adding tension to their situation. Eric shows little optimism about reducing his hours despite Val’s pleas.
Meanwhile, Craddock meets Rami at the airport, bonding over classical music. Their exchange turns urgent when Craddock suspects they are being followed, prompting him to accelerate sharply.
Back at the garage, Brie is busy maintaining one of the ambulances when Dean refuses a long-distance call due to its distance. Subsequently, a crucial call comes in, and Dean grants Eric a “promotion” that offers no substantial benefits. Arriving at the scene of a crash, they encounter fire trucks and police. While Craddock is left unconscious, Rami’s condition appears dire—their next move is critical.
In a shocking discovery, the team finds a vast sum of money wrapped in plastic during their care of Rami. Dean, eyes gleaming with ambition, sees the cash as a potential lifeline to resolve their financial troubles. Eric’s complete opposition is dismissed by the group, leading to tension as they contemplate splitting the cash. Tragically, Rami succumbs during the ride, but the money is secured by Dean, who hands Eric a crucial key.
Back at the crash site, Craddock awakens but quickly becomes embroiled in a tale of criminal intrigue involving money smuggling, as he eludes the police and makes contact with his superior, Akkerman.
A heated argument about the money erupts, leading to Max’s unexpected demise. Brie and Reuben remain blissfully unaware of the chaos unfolding. Later, they find themselves in a bind when their ambulance fails to start, forcing them to take Danger One, which could expose the dark secret of the money.
Craddock faces Akkerman in a violent confrontation, leading to yet another murder within the unfolding saga. Meanwhile, the police, led by Beckwith, grow suspicious with a motive to uncover the mystery of the missing money.
With Max’s body needing disposal without attracting suspicion from Brie and Reuben, Dean concocts a cover story, misleading them by presenting false praise. As the investigation intensifies, plans for a clean-up become increasingly complicated, culminating in unexpected twists of betrayal, deception, and twisted loyalty.
When Brie attempts to gain control over the situation, tensions flare, and Eric finally snaps. He tries to destroy their perilous secret by setting the money ablaze, although a team effort emerges to extinguish the fire before all is lost.
As chaos reigns, Craddock arrives impersonating an insurance investigator just as the lines between friends and foes blur. The impending skirmish erupts into gunfire, with lives hanging in the balance.
In the end, after confrontations with Beckwith and Craddock, the circle of deception closes. Eric comes home to his family, hopeful for a brighter future, clutching a key that holds the weight of a thousand secrets.
